It seems that most mainstream movies today are remakes and adaptions. Old comic books are turned into movies and try to be 'gritty and realistic', old movies are remade just for the heck of it.

How do you feel about this recycling trend?

You mean besides "the last time Hollywood made anything I thought was worth spending my money on, the year started with a one"? (1999, Man on the Moon)

I'm fine with them, so long as they fit the two criteria of a remake.
1. It's not the exact same movie, you can see a different directors/actors/writers influence on the original. They make it their own
2. It's good.

In fairness though, a couple other things that annoy me is the whole gritty thing, some people pull it off wonderfully (look at the batman series) but others will just make characters just shitter to say the three key words of new tv/movies:
DARK EDGY GRITTY
But this all relates back to just the movie being good, talented people can make something DARK EDGY GRITTY without making characters needlessly arseholes for no reason.

Some re-makes are great. Bionic Commando Re-Armed was great (Videogame). The Count of Monte Cristo is also great (Movie).

I dont care if a movie is a remake or not. Good movies are so few and far between these days

A remake can be good. But its not a good gamble. There are far too many things that can go wrong. Well a gamble on the good/bad scale. It is a good monetary gamble, they do well in the box office on that all important 1st weekend, even if they bomb after 1 week.

Well, I didn't mind Ocean's Eleven. It's a remake that is almost nothing like its source material. And sometimes a scene for scene remake can fail too. It's just a touchy balance.
