I'll admit, before I started playing free-for-alls online on games, I was sure that I would be owned by a group of hardcore gamers with no team to back me up. But then I started playing and I started to realise, there is just more people to kill. So what's your view on free-for-alls?

It just means that you have to be alert, and not much different from most games, where there's you vs. a load of enemies

I'd prefer team games, since the other team has someone else to shoot at.

I'm going to be honest and say that I prefer team-deathmatch over Free-For-All for one main reason.

I can assemble a squad of four with me and my friends. I love the tactical teamwork involved in "squad" or "team" combat in games like Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and Gears of War 2.

Free for all is fun when you're playing on your own, but having friends to fight along side with is always better.

It really depends on one thing: Are you skilled or not.

If you are, the second option, if you're not, the second.

Mixture of the two, really. I usually prefer playing team games as they tend to be more tactical and less frantic and I like the element of teamwork. I do on occasion like to jump into a free-for-all deathmatch as well, though.

Totally agree with this, and my experience with deathmatches just tend to be a massive clusterfuck.

Deathmatches are fine if people aren't spawning right behind you all the time, so <16 players in my opinion is needed (map size dependant).

However I prefer objective based gameplay anyway, like TF2/CoD(SnD)/CSS.

I don't like them myself, I much prefer team games. However teams are rarely good enough to rely on and sometimes throw the game because they died so much

In FPS it's just mindless shooting and running.
In RTS you always get hammered by more than one guy.

I'm not a fan of FFA.

i prefer it to team battles. simply because i don't have to worry about shooting an ally by accident.

i have to be more alert, but that just adds to the fun.

I say it should be standard in all multiplayer games. It is being weeded out and that is annoying. Team games can be fun, but sometimes its nice not having to worry about anyone but yourself.

Depends which game I'm playing.

If it is CoD4, which I'm good at, yeah sure. I can do free-for-all.

But Halo, which I hate and only play when friends come around anyway, I always play team.

Free for all can be like team games except for one major difference your on your own and you look out only for your own well being.

Its kill or be killed, just like any other online fps mode.

When ever I do free-for-all, everyone seems to go for me. But it means more people for me to kill.

Heh, yeah, except the AI is much worse than when offline.

You cant really argue skill on online games 100% theres always the everlooming spectors of lag, server speed and hardware take two guys of equal skill give one an old rollerball mouse and a 10mbps connection and give another guy a Logitech and a 20 mbps connection guy no 2 is going to come out on top every time.

this is basically a question of are you good at free for alls, as opposed to what's your view on them. i for one am not good at them, i need teamwork

Fun, especially when the only team you can find is a bunch of dickwads on Xbox Live. Luckily, the main free for all I play is Warcraft 3 or Starcraft, so, they aren't as prominent.
