So, if you've been paying attention to me or not I've been doing a whole Nostalgia Critic-esque thing on YouTube the pass couple of weeks. Well it didn't take long for an episode I made featuring WWE copyrighted material to get flagged, even though it's clearly in the bounds of fair use.
But fair enough. I decide I'll take it down. I go to take it down.... and I'm face with a nifty little "Copyright School" YouTube has put together. (I actually made a Let's Play out of it) where I was forced to watch the following video:
So I'm annoyed already that now I had to take a test about shit I already know just to *TAKE DOWN* my infringing video. I take down allllllll my videos, because I don't want to get in trouble and have to deal with nonsense. I don't have money for a lawyer, obviously, to fight for my rights.
I take the latest review I did of Monday Night RAW, completely gut it of ALL WWE copyrighted material. All that remains is literally a fat man in front of a sheet talking about what he saw on the tele. About the extent of the copyrighted material would be my saying the names of the characters.... (actually said review is elsewhere on the Escapist, I don't want to be accused of advertising so you have to go look yourself.)
And so I do that, re-upload it, and then I'm faced with this:
I've disputed it, obviously. Are they really going to tell me I can't TALK about their product? If so, I and helllllllll of a lot of wrestling news sites and podcasts are going down too.... I swear I'm starting to regret even trying this.
So for discussion value, is simply talking about television show infringing upon copyright? More importantly, do any of you have any YouTube horror stories you would like to share?
EDIT: Fucked up the poll. Just ignore it... (Just me or is Escapist being glitchy with them?)

And in one fell swoop, Happy Tree Friends became TOTALLY uncool.
