Crowbar. That trusty thing never runs out of ammo.
A shotgun doubles as a melee weapon.
But you can't stab a zombie in the head with a shotgun.
I'd go for the bolt-action, because if you can aim well you can take down every zombie in one hit. Up close, I'd have to go for the shotgun, for obvious reasons, but I'd keep a crowbar with me too. I run out of ammo, I can always do it Freeman-style.
Bayonets. Yes; on a shotgun. Or a chainsaw-bayonet. Or just skip the whole gun thing and use a chainsword. Attach a flamer to a chainsword and you can beat as many zombies as you want.
GOOD MAN! I like how you think. Yes, bayonets would solve the problem. And since chainswords appear to have an unlimited supply of fuel, that would work even better. But if we're going into this school of asskicking, I'd probably just arm myself with a power fist and Gauss flayer and be done with it.

but you have to get close to a zombie and a random object never runs out either
This random object could also be a pineapple for all we know.

I chose bolt action rifle.
bolt action as well....with a scope as well...maybe...

Probably something with a huge range, melee, so I don't have to worry about ammunition.

Maybe I'll just use my dog's chain + metal collar. It has those pointy metal pieces on it, chain is made of metal too. I can use it as a flail, a whip or a long-range mace. Like, 3 meters, can you beat that?

I can attack some nails to it or wires. It will hurt extra hard. Or a spear.
Would it stop em? No

well, according to my trusty "Zombie Survival Guide" which i literally have on or next to me at all times, bolt-astion rifle would be the best, right behind that is the crowbar, but i do not know how to use a melee weapon, and im probably not good at it. so for now i'll stick to the long-range weapons.
I've read the zombie survival guide, and I'd actually prefer the semi-automatic rifle, because I'm not quite sure how well I trust my accuracy, and the book did say that it is one of the best weapons to fight zombies.

pistol- ez to load, can be used as a blunt object ( pistol whip, or hammer ) no( or low )re-coil
shotgun- slow all around ( in EVERYTHING ) but deals damage...
hmm i guess im going with pistol cause all it takes is on shot in the head ( even a bb gun can do that ) ( ohh u didnt say what rules i choose the "head shot zombies" rule )

I totally agree with you, the dog's chain + metal collar is the dumbest thing on here. Perhaps if zombies FELT pain, or could be brought down by you whipping them, then it might be a good idea. But since neither are true, it would just be good for venting your anger.

The problem with a sword and suit of armor is that mobility is significantly hampered, and without a LOT of training it will probably end up killing you instead of saving you. Best idea is to prepare months in advance and develop a home that is self-sufficient and easy to defend and gather rifles with lots of ammunition and try to wait it out. Beyond that in the case of a zombie apocalypse, pack light and make for a military base.

Shotgun is always going to be a popular choice because it is often depicted in movies removing entire limbs and heads which seems to be the only way to fight zombies in a few cases.

Depending on the zombie my weapon choice would be different.
Rage zombie (ultra fast) id go with the shotgun
Average zombie (slow) idk.... samari sword? haha

Bolt-action. You need a two-handed gun to take out a zombie (you will be very inaccurate with a zombie lumbering towards you if you're using a pistol), and they're very easy to get. Also, you would only fire one shot, so you could conserve ammo for the rest of the horde.

I say shotgun, but I wouldn't even be near zombies. I would be living it large in the middle of the desert farming camels and cacti.

Realistically, a bolt-action rifle would be the best thing to use in case of a zombie attack.
They are accurate, and require time for each shot. Making it so that each shot counts. But a semi-automatic rifle would be better, probably, for essentially the same reasons.
Dont' know why I didn't pick that one.
Pistols are bad because if there are zombies about you'd be scared out of your mind. It'd be pretty hard to aim accuratley.

All of those other ones are great for killing humans, but zombies don't particularley need their organs. A shotgun would shread them to bits, but if the brain isn't destroyed, they can still be hazzardous.
And a flame thrower is much less potent than you think it would be.
Instead of ravenous zombies shambelling towards you, you now have ravenous zombies shambelling towards you on fire.
