For a long time I've been a zombie fanatic, not the standard zombie (Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Fido, Night of the living dead... any office worker) but rather a fan of the fast moving infected (28 days later, 28 weeks later and that filthy Dawn of the Dead remake). I had a big thing for zombies when I was younger and my friend Paul and I always discussed the ideal strategy for a zombie infestation. However the first time my eyes were opened to a new idea was when I first played Halo: combat evolved when I was introduced to the Flood. This I liked because it felt like a sort of evolution of the concept, these weren;t reanimated dead. These were alien monsters.
However my interest was sadly taken from me when I learned how annoying the flood really are. i stuck with regular zombies from then on. Namely Left for Dead ( I said 'for' an I mean't 'for' dammit).

Then I played Dead Space, now while there exist many well deserved complaints about a nice but inperfect game in an imprefect world Dead Space really nailed the idea of alien life forms mutating the dead bodies of the crew of a space ship. There were quite a few variations, there was imaginative ideas behind their creation, they were genuinely hideous and best of all I freaking loved the dismemberment combat and found it different and much more enjoyable then regular 'shoot them in the head' combat. So ever since Dead Space I've preffered the idea of alien mutants to regular zombies. Mostly because ghastly alien freaks feel much more beleivable and Dead Space did a lot of things right to help me to beleive that an alien life form like this could exist out there. Not a comforting thought is it? I love Necromorphs.

However I now decided to ask you the people out there what do you prefer, regular Zombies or Alien mutant cannibal reanimated corpse freaks?

Zombies slow, dumb, and classic. It's like the survival round how many can you withstand?

I prefer zombies over aliens, because they are stupider, and aliens would definitely have very advanced technology that would surely kill us all.

If it's what to fight? Zombies. The classic slow moving ones. Anything that gets caught by those deserves it.

As for levels of coolness/realism? Aliens. The Flood is awesome and it makes more sense than some terrestrial disease or virus or what have you.

Hmm. I would prefer the slow, dumb zombies. Everyone knows how to kill them and its also pretty easy to run around them. Now if they start becoming faster and stronger and become like a Tank in L4D..then I'd be scared.

Well the infected in Left *for* Dead kind of blur the lines between standard zombies (though technically infected) and alien mutants. I reckon mutant aliens are just more beleivable and exciting in my own opinion.
