I always explain to people "there needs to be 10 console-exclusive must haves... not 10 console-exclusive high profile titles". Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War III... am I to understand PS3's been out for five years and they only have THREE games to tempt me? And ONE has continuously failed to evolve beyond a playable demo?

I'm sure Sony's very pleased with their wonder wands, but they just... aren't... doing it... for me... glad I bought a 360 with its 3 or 4 "definitive" racing sims already out the door.

I *love* Gran Turismo, but I thought GT4 was playable forever... there's literally nothing I can imagine aside from Graphics Engine Faults/Complete Technical Failures that'd keep a game help up this long.
Just because you only have 3 or so games that interest you does not mean that they are the only ones, and you should never buy a console based on only 2 or so games.

Personally, I'm very satisfied with my console. I have Killzone 2, 3D Dot Game Heroes, 2 Ratchet and Clank games, Demon's Souls, Resistance 1 and 2, Uncharted 1 and 2, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, and Valkyria Chronicles to name some. If none of those games interest you, then the PS3 is clearly not for you to begin with, just like how none of the 360 games interest me in the slightest. Doesn't mean that the 360 or Ps3 have no/few exclusives, just a difference in taste.

OT: This is getting ridiculous. There's perfectionism, and downright stupidity, even perfection has it's limits. Just release the damn game and patch it, it's called the internet damnit! I'm sure even the patch itself wouldn't even be that significant, it looks great already, release it!

I find it sad that Duke Nukem Forever has a very good chance of coming out before it.

I would love to see this game get a resounding "meh" from every critic under the sun and fly by with a standard 70odd% (I hate reviews and percentages generally but this game just deserves a mediocre response I think)

As far as I'm concerned I think we've all waited far too long for this to come out it will inevitably be a parody of itself. 2 years ago when GRID was running the track this could have been the racing game to make everyone stand up and scream WOW. But now I think the consumer is just bored of waiting.

I'm not denying that GT5 will most likely be a wonderous piece of racing simulation - unlike what many, if any have seen before - what I am saying is that most of those who gave a toss a few years ago now simply don't give one any more. You took too long, I don't care any more, give me GRID2 or Burnout Heaven and I'll be happy...

I don't really like racing games. I had GT3 back when that came out and I enjoyed it somewhat. It was a really good racing game, problem is, I don't really like racing games.

I'm sure this will be a fantastic racer for people into that sort of thing but its really just not for me. Its not even so much that I dislike the actual racing concept its that the game feels too basic for me. Its just racing. No real story, no real motivation other than "First is good". I feel detached from the experience. It doesn't immerse me very well.
I also share that sentiment which leads me to hold absolutely not care in the world as far as how long they delay GT 5, let alone most racing games. As you said, it's pretty basic: Follow track --> First place --> Win. To each their own, but pretty graphics and accurate physics do nothing for me if it winds up being a test drive simulator.

For the amount of time this thing has been in development you'd want to be able to smell the exhaust gas from your car.

I love the idea of releasing a game 'when it's done' like Blizzard seems to do. This purely noble intention ends up biting you in the ass if you put a date on it, though. Somewhere between planning and marketing, this went wrong! I wonder what mister Sherman has to say on this ;)

That said, I'm sure this will turn out a great game and send me to the local "BuyMore" to get a PS3. I greatly enjoyed Gran Turismo and GT3 so happy to wait it out and see this released as a polished gem. Looking forward!

I don't get it, people complain about unfinished games, companies having to patch games after realease and all that jazz, and when a company tries to perfect a game before realease, they get bitched at for taking their time.
