A bit of late news I know, but I read they're already in development for GT6, and hearing them say that before they even release 5 made me wanna make a claw glove outta broken GT games to Freddy Kruger the hell outta devs with... What's you guys opinion of this? Think this is a good time to start working on GT6, or they just saying this for attention and need to burn in hell for it?

Well there are new cars constantly coming out so....it makes sense that they are starting work on a new GT.
I mean it takes them forever to make a new game anyways so it's not like GT5 will be released and 6 months later GT6 will pop out. I'm not worried in the slightest about this

They probably one have a design document for GT6 with the word 'Cars' writen on it. They probably don't even know what platform it's going on. Besides GT5 is coming real soon in a wait that has rivalled the Duke himself.

Not Episode 3 though. With GT5 and Duke we have had steady reassurance it's coming. Episode 3 is just annoyingly smug being MIA.

Calumon: Maybe they need to put the smelly stuff in the car, but now they're thinking about getting a new one?

All companies start the next iteration before current release. Or are at least in planning stage.

Yeah! Or else you get things like DNF which take over a decade to finally show up.

I don't think the word "soon" exists in Polyphony's lexicon.

You know I dont quite understand GTs lagging development cycle. I mean "Prologue" has been out for what? 2 almost 3 years now?

Once you have the core assets built, it typically doesnt take alot more to develop. I just dont get it. If we can have a new burnout or need for speed every couple of years, what exactly is the holdup on it.

OT: not that it matters, I lost interest in GT series after buying the original and ended up unimpressed by it.

Hey, Australians are still waiting on Rock Band 2, and 3's already been released.

As long as they release the games eventually, who cares what they say to the press?

Not in the slightest bit worked up about this
To be fair, hats off to Polyphony Digital if they can use the delay time to actually pull off what they are trying as getting a perfect 60fps at 1080p will be amazing.
GT1 was awesome, GT2 was awesome, GT3 made me jealous that I didnt have a PS2 at the time, GT4 awesome...Notice a pattern there?

Gran Turismo games have always been the number 1 console driving sim but because its been delayed so much you all dismiss it as terrible? (not necessarily in this thread but there seems to be alot of hate for the game)
Alot of the people dissing it probably owned a PS2 or PS1 at some point but now claim Forza has claimed the title.
My experience with the Forza series has been this
Forza 2: Confusing menus resulting in me not knowing what the fuck I was doing
Forza 3: Ok, select my caLOADING...Select traLOADING...Flyby of track looks nice though but....LOADING...You touched another car would you like to restart the race?...GAH!!!

Wait till the game has been released before saying its awful people

er, bit off topic there, so, yeah, Im not worried...Best start planning ahead. Even if its just a bit of paper with Cars written on it
lol no1 is saying the game will be bad, just annoyed that they've been pushing this game back for years, then mention they're developing the 6th after they've pushed back the 5th again. It's like they're throwing GT spit balls at us from across the room and giggling.

I thought GT5 was delayed because they found a few bugs they wanted to iron out? So it'd make sense that part of their team is working on getting rid of the bugs, whilst the rest are working on the next game.

They have stated before now that a lot of the issues with development have been implemeting the PS3 tech with the game they are trying to make. Now that it all works smoothly, any subsequent games will be developed a lot quicker.
I don't see why, if you're a fan of a given game, you'd be pissed about a new game being announced.
Batman: Arkham Citys sequel is already being prepped as well... I'm guessing once one department is done with their contribution they move onto the next game rather than sit around whistling out their collective arse.

honestly, i always thought this is what all development teams do: start their next project in the middle of their current project.

I don't think we are ever getting Rock Band 2, but considering I just bought an imported copy, I am happy. The only thing I'm sad about is the DLC wouldn't work.

OT: Ehh, I never played past the first. But by the sounds of it, it will be a long time before GT6 has a chance of coming out, so it doesn't really matter.

Keep in mind that in the early stages of game development there are very few programmers and digital artists involved, as focus is on developing the concept, creating design documents, vision statements and such. These conceptual developers don't have much to do in the closing stages of game development as all the concepts have been finalized and they can't contribute new material, so it makes sense to put them on developing a new game while the rest of the team finishes up the technical aspects of their current one.

Because, those things don't write themselves in this case? You'll need some cars. Some physics. Some tracks. And a career mode to tie it all together.

To be honest, most of the work on such a game seems to less "creative" in nature than purely technical. They want to make the ultimate driving game. That's about as far as creativity needs to go from a vision standpoint.
