Lair. Most critics found the Sixaxis controls were unplayable, but the control scheme didn't bother me too much, and everything else was pretty solid.
How is the gunplay er.. "terrihorribad" in Mirror's Edge?Sh1nobu said:Mirror's Edge. Yes, the gunplay was terrihorribad, but if you look past that, the gameplay is new and refreshing with some amazing aesthetics.
Quite the same for me.Xarathox said:X2: Wolverine's Revenge. It was just... a comic book game. And a fun one at that.
Metro gets a lot of love here on the forums though. I say that even while being extremely critical of the game (and I only bought it for five dollars).Charcharo said:Metro 2033 on this very site ...
Otherwise, STALKER Clear Sky, even though I kinda get it... it was just too buggy on release.
Bloodlines is possibly one of the most beloved games that did poorly, it had a lot of character and feel but it was just clearly unfinished.Flaery said:Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I hate it so much but I love it so much too. I'm not sure how well it did on the critical side, but considering it's buggy and restrictive I'd imagine it didn't do too well. But I see some weird sort of charm to the game, it's something I could play possibly until the end of time.
Playing it now, it's quite dated. But other than the obnoxious sewer level and the vehicle sections, I did have a lot of fun with it.Biggyzoom said:Also Enter The Matrix. Once we got over the disappointment that we couldn't play as Neo I had a blast playing through it. The fight with the agent in the plane was awesome.
The look sensitivity in the game is built for the running aspect and it does not transition well to aiming your weapon. Also the enemies hardly react to getting shot until they go down.Senare said:How is the gunplay er.. "terrihorribad" in Mirror's Edge?Sh1nobu said:Mirror's Edge. Harker067 said:Yeah... most of the games on here (althought I often agree they are good games) are not what I would call poorly reviewed.... Maybe I'm just incredibly jaded by how people demand a 90 instead of an 80 but that doesn't really cut it for me. Below 60% on metacritic or it isn't really "poorly reviewed" I say!![]()
Oh god, that boss was soooo annoying. He was the reasen i stopped playing the game. I specced into stealth all the way and then this asshole comes along and there was no possible way to win the fight. I was really strong at martial arts, but thats not really effective against his knives.hazabaza1 said:Damn straight! The Wykydtron said:Alpha Protocol? You mean James Bond: The Game? Yeah that was fucking awesome. Add that to my list definitely. Walking into a bar, then IMMEDIATELY dunking an important informant's head off the counter for fuck all reason just solidifys the game was amazing. It's all the little things like that that make it so charming.hazabaza1 said:Alpha Protocol was really good, fuck the haters.
I can also see the Budokia Tenkaichi series really easily getting shat upon by reviewers but I fuckin' love 'em.
Oh man, and those bosses. Most are... poorly executed, but I love how silly cool they are!
FUCKIN' LOVE IT
You are absolutely right. The game is a buggy mess with overpowered skills, bad melee mechanics, incredible difficulty spikes and the last third of the game is pretty terrible, but right now I'm on my 4th (or 5th possibly) playthrough and still having a blast. I guess that the atmosphere and characters with pretty good plot make up for most of it's flaws, if not outshine them.Flaery said:Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I'm with ya. I think I liked 2 more because it had more game modes as far as I remember, and I think the basic moves and combos weren't as identical between characters in 2. Might remember that wronghazabaza1 said:I always liked Tenkaichi 2 more than 3. Dunno why. But I liked all the Tenkaichi games more than the basic Budokia games. Dat 3D.
Did you play Shadow of Chernobyl before it? I mean, I'd guess many did not like Clear Sky because SoC did almost everything that Clear Sky did, and did it better. That was my experience, I was so charmed by SoC so that when I got to play Clear Sky, the atmosphere was not enough to grab me. Re-used an incredible amount of assets, and what wasn't reused, was often half-assed or unneeded.Charcharo said:Otherwise, STALKER Clear Sky, even though I kinda get it... it was just too buggy on release.
I'm with you there.Arina Love said:This gen J-RPGs especially "moe" J-RPGs NISa is localizing, i even enjoyed original Hyperdimension Neptunia!
There a fan patch I use that re-balances the game so tech characters can be on equal footing. I'd post the link, but I don't want to be on the wrong end of a mod so if ya want see it just PM me. =PSyrograph said:It's so diverse and open-ended, but arguably slightly unbalanced in favour of magic. I didn't realise this until I stopped playing gunsmith characters and played a mage instead ("Ferdinand the Angry Gnome"). The first-level dark necromancy spell, Harm, is very very powerful. The trade-off is that if you overdo it, you pass out. I guess that worked to balance it a bit better?
At least with guns you can run away when you run out of ammo.
