Ok, i have a problem.

Whenever i hear someone speak out against something i enjoy, i either stop enjoying it or shrug it off. for example, i was obsessed with Star Wars as a little kid, but when i got to 4th grade, few people thought it was fun or cool, so i stopped enjoying it because of their opinions.

I wanna stop being a sheep to other people's opinions. what should i do???

Just ignore other peoples opinions and enjoy what you like. Like me.
I liked Twilight.
There, I said it.

Show that you liek it for a reason, suprisingly enough it will get them intrested because it shows you have more will power than they do, making them the sheep! Ive suprisingly done this a few times with my mates with things like yu-i-oh, dragonball z, techno music and xbox

What I would do first is ask a gaming forum for deep psychiatric analysis.
Then I would take this analysis and apply it to my everyday life.

Or maybe you should proclaim things to be awesome so people follow you instead of you following them.

Or maybe you should explain why you like whatever you like that they don't, and perhaps they'll understand, and you'll convert a potential fan. Or maybe you'll just make them angrier, in which case you support your opinion with factual evidence that you are correct and they are wrong.

Or maybe you simply not care what other people think and just sit back and be happy, and share what you enjoy with like-minded individuals who will enjoy it with you.

I originally planned to buy Modern Warfare 2, but all the douches in my class only play Call of Duty. They haven't of any other games. I asked them if they knew what Psychonauts was. They didn't know of course. Now I hate Call of Duty.

Wow... That takes balls to admit... Although you like Twilight so I guess both actions cancel each other out.

OT: You like things for a reason, just embrace those reasons and you'll be fine.

I also get affected, by my older brothers. For some reason, I care what they think of me. I guess that comes with having your siblings as role models. But I usually disagree with most popular opinions.

Ignore those who agree or disagree, and choose your own way. All I can say.

Few people in the world have an opinion of me that I care about, so I just do what I do. If they don't like, fair enough, just so long as they don't keep going on about why I shouldn't like it.

This might help you. especially if a lot fo peopel say this.

Beeing unindividual and too affected by otehr peoples oppinions is lame, grow a pair stop beeing a sheep.

Now here's the part where your problem kicks in, and because we say so, and you feel like you should do what we say, you stop beeing affected by my (and everyone else who's helpings) oppinions.

Ps. if you don't we'll all feel hurt because you're willing to conform to some lame school kid who doesn't like star wars and not to us.
OMG how can we be lower than someone who doens't like star wars /cries

Also, try to distance yourself mentally from people who are of no importance to you anyways. why should you give a shit about what some random tard thinks of star wars, or gaming or whatever, why should you even care about what he thinks of you unless you wanna date him or be his new bestest best friend or something he's just anotehr random 'tard who's oppinion of you won't have any efefct on your life apart from that which you allow it to have.
heck he prolly doesn't care whether or not you fin the fact that he masturbates to donkey-porn sick, gross and disturbing.

The only opinions I care about really are those of my friends. They don't make my opinion for me, and we disagree on many things, but we all consider each other's opinions.

I don't really care what many people think of my interests, because when they speak out against it they usually haven't actually tried it, but dislike it because it's considered nerdy, etc.

This and/or studying the reasons behind peoples' opinions. Knowing is half the battle! \o/

But don't be afraid to enjoy things that no one else knows about/gets. Just don't do it for the sake of trying to be different. for example, I love chiptune, though I don't really know many other people who give a damn about it.

If everyone at school hates you for your way of life, the answer is simple: find friends who can accept you. If you like WoW, then you are hardly a rarity amongst the world population, so all you need do is expand you social horizons

I have had this problem as well, most noticably with my opinion of Resistance: FoM, where my opinion went all over the place whenever I heard or read others' opinions.
Kinda scared me to find that I was so easily impressionable, but I eventually shrugged it off and managed to find my own opinion.

Ignore them. I love Twilight and the other day i had someone on this site being nasty so i told him to go to hell because it was my opinion (then my boyfriend told him to leave me alone).

I also have the opinion of my mother telling me all men are bastards just because she was left heart broken by several. Now she hates me having a boyfriend and trying to ruin my opinion of him by making me paranoid all the time.

I have now learnt it is not up to her to choose my guys. Only me!

Your opinion, your life. Do not let others change that!

Hey, I mentioned I liked Twilight and have yet to die.

Hang on, what's that glow on the horizon?
