Oh yeah? How would you like a sex minigame in Fable 2, to go with all of the other jobs? Tap A at the right time to insert, withdraw, insert, withdraw.
Would you like to come in for some... coffee?
Whoa! The "Fahrenheit" is going up!

Anyway.

Eh, I dunno. I enjoyed the Leisure Suit Larry series, but then again they were renowned for being over-the-top hilarious (to me, at least).

Porn and videogames may be hugely popular individually, but that doesn't mean there's an inherently worthwhile crossover between the two, a fact borne out by the simple absence of any viable sex game genre thus far.
What? Forgetting a little something called the entire freaking dating sim genre [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dating_sim], are we?
i was just going to say that.

I knew somebody was going to make a point of throwing Japanese sex games into this, but I decided that as long as it's necessary to link to Wiki to explain to people what the hell you're talking about, it wasn't particularly relevant.

If these X/AO rated games become as good as A Clockwork Orange or Requiem for a Dream, then Hod can start complaining.

After thinking about it, I'll concede that since that particular genre has so far proved unsuccessful outside of Japan, it isn't relevant to an article about the western market. However, for the sake of indulging my pedantism, I'll go ahead and post the argument I was originally planning on posting anyway:

Except that you were using the absence of a sex game genre to back-up your point of such a pairing being unlikely to produce a commercially and/or critically successful game. While I can't comment on their quality, the fact that there's a thriving market for these games in Japan surely shows that they are at least commercially viable, does it not? As for it being "necessary to link to Wiki", I'd be willing to bet that if you asked any member on this website about them, there's at least an 80% chance that they'll have heard about them at the very least as "those weird Japanese porn games".

Nice. Maybe soon Nintendo will get their shit together and finally make use of the Wiimote to design an interactive porn game.

Downloading pornographic games off the internet? Makes sense I guess, we all know the internet is for...

...[/youtube]

Sorry, It had to be done.

To seriously address the issue... there are plenty of pornographic games, even a pretty decent one I once played called Brave Soul. It was kinda like Diablo but with worse graphics. It wasn't a TERRIBLE game though, and was decently interesting. Which was good because it didn't jump into the sexy bits right away. There IS a market for it, but it's an incredibly niche market and not nearly the size that normal pornography would be. Now, Digitally Distributing movies is an idea, and one i'm suprised hasn't gained more steam. Usually Pornography leads digital technoligy.

Also, as much as I hate to agree with a guy who dev'd a game called BoneTown, the AO rating IS soft censorship. Unfortunatly it's just something built into the US culturally- the stores won't carry AO stuff because people would pitch a *****, the Consoles won't carry AO becase the people would pitch a *****. It's not likly to change anytime soon- look how long it took us to get a black president, and racial equality has at least a centurys headstart on "sexual liberation". The internet is their best option for...whatever atrocious games they're going to make. Honestly if you want a Porn game? Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball. Nuff said.

Hoorah! But yeah, I don't know if porn-game have a real market. Or rather, a real market big enough to be marketable. People watching porn tend to want to..well, you know....one hand too busy to use the mouse.

Whilst gamers tend to prefer having something to do (sorry, I'm not actually trying to create these innuendos).

Maybe I'm wrong, but my thinking is if there were money to be made from this, a good game with porn in would have been developed already.

For example, Second Life isn't a porn game, but a red light district developed within there as almost a bi-product.

To riff on Yahtzee, "Press X to Not Ejaculate Prematurely"?

Ten bucks Fox News Doesn't report on this but Mass Effect 2 will receive a Fox News "News Alert" when it emerges that your avatar can butt-rape squid creatures with an uncanny resemblance to Bill O'Reilly.

ESRB has it pretty rough, but they need to step it up. Aren't ratings meant to inform people? Or is it a stamp of approval that the game is OK because it has a rating?

"Mom buy me this one!"
"It's rated Mature?!...I can't believe this!"
"I WANT IT!"
"Oh ok."

Reading the second paragraph (non bold) I can't help but laugh at the idea of Language themed games for Adults.

"Mom buy me this one!"
"Ok"
*purchases*
"Madam, you are aware that this game maybe inappro-"
"SILENCE! Its a game, duh, hence for kids! Stop trying to tell me how to parent!"
*kid sticks his/her tongue out*
*10 hours later, parent returns, enraged!*

I really doubt they did themselves many favours when they decided to name the game BoneTown...all the greatest legends in porn have had subtle names...Ron Jeremy...Behind The Green Door...you'd never suppose they contained graphic material that's not suitable for granny or little George...rename it and we'll see what ESRB has to say then.
