Porn in Escapist

So I know a bunch of different sites about gaming, and surprisingly they mostly focus on one topic - gaming. There is always all kinds of (semi) side topics like discussions about hardware/software, game industry, competitive gaming and so on. But on Escapist I noticed one thing - pretty big focus about informing us with all kinds of things about porn, like that there is new porn coming out about Batman, that X porn star likes gaming etc.

So my question is why Escapist focuses so much more on porn that pretty much any non-porn website that I know?

The Escapist focuses more on the general culture surrounding gaming than just the games themselves. That's why they sometimes have news about tabletop games, comic books, movies... and apparently porn is a part of that as well. I guess.

To be fair, there is never any posting of porn.

Anyway, we have loads of different news posts, I would be hard pressed to call this a gaming website, there's so much different stuff, and the news is pretty diverse as well.

You need to go to more gaming websites my friend. The Escapist isn't the first to talk about it, and it certainly will not be the last.

Plus, the posting of pornography is against the rules of these forums....

Well, we do talk about it sometimes. Never show it, naturally, but it does find it's way into the topics of the forums. The talk of it, not pictures!

There was that Suicide Girls newspost earlier in the week, the .xxx domain, and not to mention This Ain't Avatar: XXX!

So far I have seen the XXX Domain Thread and Avatar one too...also the entire "Porn = Art" one too.

There was a thread earlier which said that the 37% of the internet is porn, the other 63% I guess is everyone talking about porn. Escapist is a part of the Internet, there is no way that they can't escape it. And also, it would get a bit boring if the community always focused on games without taking them in any kind of cultural context.

That is the news section though. There job is to supply us with anything that has to do with the technological world and the new addition to the Domain Name is a little fun thing to do with the Internet. It's news, that is why it is mentioned.

We're not limited to gaming discussion and that is why we have multiple boards. We're a site for everyone, not just for gamers.
