I heard a rumor that there was a Portal sequel in the works, but it is set up to actually be a prequel. What i heard is that you will actually play during the time they were making the actual gun, the time before Glados went crazy.

I heard they were either talking about the above mentioned version, or one that is actually a sequel. I don't really know where they would go with an actual sequel, but I figured it would be cool to see other peoples opinions.

It's a prequel, but it's set IN THE FUTURE!!!

Your future actions which you make in the present, affect the past, thus setting the stage for the first game.

If you were wondering why GLaDOS went insane, now you know.

Didn't GLaDOS go crazy to stop them from flooding the test chamber with nerve gas?

So... maybe you would be the tester of the gun? Not sure what the object would be. Unless, in a twist, you play as the "bad guy" and are the real reason Glados goes crazy.

My... mind... hurts...

Sounds like a cool game. I hope we get some cake this time.

First game: The cake is a lie.
Next? The pie is a fib.
Still, portal 2 (if real) sounds great.

As innovative as Portal was, the whole "Cake is a lie" thing got on my tits. I think that for games like portal, there is only so much you can do without making the gamplay of the rumoured sequel feel stale.

The Ceasar Salad is decietful.

There is going to be a Portal "2", that much is certain. The original creators at Valve said as much. However, any details you may have heard are all simple conjecture. Nothing beyond a second game being developed has been announced.

No. She malfunctioned and flooded the entire Aperture Science facility with a nerve gas. So the remaining scientists installed the morality core so she wouldn't do it again.

Hmmm, well the Aperture Science CEO is supposed to be in it, so maybe you play as Chell before she is turned into a cloned cyborg.
Um....what?

In the future prequel, there's cake. But we're in the present, so our future selves will have to send the cake back to their past, but we can't eat it because the ingredients don't exist yet. Unless you're talking about a cake that goes backwards in time. A true taste sensation, but in its initial form, it is quite unappealing, as is the sensation of reverse-digestion that accompanies consumption.

*Head explodes*

Seriously though, this sounds like the kind of humor Valve would put in the game... maybe a portal gun that travels through time!!!

I don't care what it's about or when it's set or who you play as. Portal was an amazing game and a sequel should be great.

No.

Portal was good enough. You know what they do to sequels like that? They mop the floor with 'em where I come from.

If they were going to do a sequel it would have to be another totally original design to keep it innovative, but I trust Valve to do the right thing.

I'm making a note here: huge disappointment.

Valve is going to have a tough time meeting everyone's massive expectations for this se/prequel.

Portal 2 must be fun, yet unique in it's own way. If it just mooches off of Portal, then I shall cry sweet emo tears.
