So, i've been toying around with playing this for a while, but a few days ago I rented the Orange Box and Resident Evil 5 (But we won't talk about that fecal parade)

I have never enjoyed comedy games, I can't off hand even list one i've enjoyed, much less actually laughed at. Infact I thought Psychonauts was cute, and had good ideas, but didn't do a good job of being funny.

But portal had great gameplay, a great sense of humor, and didn't drag on needlessly to artificially lengthen gameplay or outstay its welcome. Besides the ending being the single most awesome boss battle I have participated in..

So, discuss how awesome Portal is and how much they need to continue this somehow.

They're already all over the continuation of it as Portal 2 is going to be coming out at some point. But yes, Portal is about 3 different kinds of awesome. It's not only funny, but has some really good puzzles to get you thinking. It is the sole reason I bought the Orange Box (although now I play everything on it).

I actually didn't care for Team Fortress 2. Not gotten into Half-Life yet.

I've only played TF2 once so far. It's ok and I'm not very good at it yet. Half-Life really draws you in.

I liked it, i enoyed going through the developer's commentary as well. some of the puzzles were more about timing than thinking, so this tripped me up somewhat.

I love Portal, it has so many of those "look what I did!" Moments.
Everything about it is incredible, the puzzles, the humour, the atmosphere, I only hope that should they make a second game they don't lose the spark, though this is Valve we're talking about, so I don't think that's likely to happen.

What? When is there slapstick in Portal? Seriously, I can't think of a single example.

I loved Portal, I thought it was great and wished it was longer, maybe giving me more puzzles over Xbox Live or something would be appreciated. I look forward to Portal 2.

But now... don't you think Portal's been praised enough? I mean yes it deserves the praise it gets but then so did Heath Ledger as the Joker and everyone is sick of hearing about how good he was. So maybe we can stop with the 'dude Portal is good' threads?

Portal is awesome indeed, and I enjoyed playing through the Half-life games even more the second time around.

I will say that HL2, while it is a great game, is not for everybody. I wasn't really digging it until I got to Ravenholm (you can see on the level select menu where that is- it's pretty far in.) I've played through twice now.

i have never played the real portal, but i have played the online flash version and memorized the words to "Still Alive" and that's enough to make me wish for Portal 3 (because the second one was as awesome as the first.)

Portal was ok.

I beat it the first time in 3 hours. The humor is fun, but not the best I've encountered in a game. Puzzles are challenging enough, until you play though once.

It's ok; it's like DEFCON, it's got it's niche, and once you figure it out, you can breeze through pretty quick.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just not a fan of puzzle games.
