So I'm considering changing to Linux because things I have read make it seem like I should be using it other than Windows. I don't use my PC as a gaming PC at all so I wouldn't have any problems there. I neglect my virus protection often and I have had to reformat my hardrive 3 times because of it. Linux seems like it would work well for me.

Do any of you use Linux and can give a review of it? Or do you know of anywhere I can learn more about it or have any input at all on it?

I'm currently running on Ubuntu. It has its ups and downs. I would certainly recommend a switch but only if you are prepared to deal with a learning curve from the word go. To use it as a basic computer for web browsing and word processing etc is fairly simple, the default Ubuntu package comes with Firefox and Open Office as standard, any extras you will have to install yourself, whether it be via the software centre or the Synaptic Package manager.

As a whole, it's a highly versatile OS that has far more scope for customisation and power than Windows, however it requires more knowledge of computers to actually get this potential out of it.

If you want any information in particular feel free to PM me :)
