So im just curious on what everyone's take on each others Post counts, compared to the date of joining the Escapist, I was just curious because I see some of the new people(stupid kids and der postin!) who have been on for what seems only a month and have like 2k posts or something like that and I sit and wonder. Do some people judge a person's knowledge by post count? I know that Credibility can be gained by a larger count(situation may vary) but what about the length of membership?

I.E I have been on the escapists for like 2 and some years and I only have a count of 800 or so, but others have that much in a week hah.

(yes this is the post from a very bored person who is escaping homework)

:p

I want some sort of badge saying how cool I am because I have been on the escapist before the special children like Max came on

Well I've been a member for about six months and have + 2000 count. [sub]Yay me![/sub]

I personally don't judge people by their post count. I only judge them on their post and responses.

I don't really pay attention to post counts or length of membership to be honest. The most important thing is what they bring to the thread.

As do I.

I find it weird that people can get thousands of posts when they join after me.

I think the post counts should be axed. The second that happens, I'm willing to bet that the ammount of Search Bar and Grammar Nazis declines dramatically.

I don't feel particularly strong about them one way or another.
It's a cool little addition, but it's not like they make anyone better or worse.

Edit:
It's not like I judge people on their counts.
I use a highly sophisticated system involving telepathic manatees and a keyboard resonance imager.
Oh yeah. I'm a high tech sneaky sonuvabitch.

The content of a person's posts is also a much better indicator of their merit.

I've been posting more recently, but that's mainly out of idle boredom, and the TF2 group on here.

I hate to be the first to say that yes, I do think it matters. I think it shows at the very least how opinionated they are, or how many forum games they post on.

Ive been on for almost a year, but I only have like 100 posts. I go through phases of posting a lot, and then I won't post anything for like 3 months.

I've been a member for nearly 11 month now and lots of users with high post counts get quoted far more often then low post users

Also anyone over 1000 posts seem to think they can get away with anything, it's complete crap some of the things people have said and got away with

People might subconsciously use post counts to determine what to think about a person. More posts in a shorter time mean less content in each one. You know it makes sense.

Myself, I check what their average post content is. If it's mainly tripe or replying to peoples brainwashed ramblings, it hardly matters. I just ignore the posts.

It doesnt matter, because group post raise your post count. So someone with 0 post on these forums could easily rack up 2k post in groups chatting away with other people.
I did not know that, and that explains a LOT. I was wondering how people that have only been members for a few months have managed to rack up thousands of posts.

But yeah, post count isn't really a big deal. The content of said posts should define an Escapist member - not the number of zeros next to their post counter.

Post counts don't really count. I couldn't care less for them, and i don't like when people (wink wink) get some kind of "fame" for them.
