Post game depression

Mass Effect 2. Definitely. I didn't even want to go through the Omega-4 relay, because it would mean that the game will end soon. That game had become a part of my life. Second playthrough just isn't the same.
When the credits rolled, I felt epic, triumphant, but also sad.

I know exactly how you feel. I beat it really quickly too, like within a week of it coming out. I was like "This is it?" NEED MOAR.

I guess I have really deep emotional ties to the characters.

I never finish games, because I enjoy them too much and want to try something new

If I DO finish a game, it's either not a particularly fun game that I just whizzed through (COD is guilty of this) or it's a very compelling linear game that pulls me to the end (HL2 is guilty of this)

Most of the time, I restart and do something new (Fallout 3, Total War games and Sims are all guilty of this)

Call me crazy, like, COMPLETELY INSANE

I only ever got Fallout 3

If you're gonna get any of them (which I would reccomend), I'd say get the PC versions. I got the PS3 version, and whilst there's nothing wrong with it, the PC has all the modding (FANTASTIC mods out there for F3)

Bioshock and Bioshock 2 were bad to finish, because they were awesome (especially Bio1). Just about to start Fallout 3 and that will probably soak up my life like a sponge, so that'll suck too.

I'm trying so hard to get into Fallout 3, purely cos I'm sick of being left out of the conversation with my mates in the pub as they either talk about Fallout 3 or football! Football not really being an option, I decided on the obvious choice...

OT: I tend to feel a bit "what do I do with myself now" when I finish a game. Most recent example being Bioshock 2. I'm genuinely at a loss, so I've done the only sensible thing: I've gone back to the original Bioshock to try and get the last 2 achievements I need

Nah, Oblivion and Morrowind are in my top 10 games, but I could never get into Fallout 3 either.

Final Fantasy 9, don't laugh.

After beating the game and then loading my save and returning to the world map, the cheerful overworld theme made me feel kind of sad that the adventure was over. Not just "boo, this sucks" but genuinely SAD. I pumped 70+ hours into it on my first run through, if I recall.

I loved Morrowind to bits. Oblivion was just "okay" to me and Fallout 3 was horribly boring. To me, Bethesda's games are becoming LESS immersive as time goes by.

I get a very aimless feeling after I finish a lengthy game. A kinda "what now?" feeling, which is made even worse on days where I finish a book or tv series on the same day. I don't usually get nostalgic for the game itself unless I really enjoyed it, more for the lack of something which had been sucking up my time on a regular basis.

I semi got into Fallout 3, same with Morrowind but Oblivion, I just can't seem to get into.

Usually I actually get a good sense of accomplishment if I felt the story was at least 20 hrs of gameplay. Then I will either start playing again or I may move on to something else. I know I have gotten sad over it before but mostly in adventure games. Uncharted 1 gotr me actually as I beat it in like 2 days.

Hah, i recognize this also. A good book or game will make you feel like your best friend just moved far away once it ends. I always go searching for the next fix like the addict that i am. I'm just happy that books are cheaper then games. Especially since this summer wont hold anything for me gaming wise.

this happened to me when stargate sg1 (the series, not the movies) ended... i almost cried... (though that was more of a "nooooo! it's over!" than any quantitative sadness)

This usually happens to me with most Bioware games, but ME2 more than any other. Thankfully the game is quite re-playable due to the classes playing differently, different dialogue choices and lots of little things that are easy to miss. It still can't compare to the sense of mystery that you get from that first play-through though.

If it was an extremely good game, and one where I felt really immersed and cared for the characters... Then yes, it feels very empty afterwards, when the initial joy of getting through is over.

Definitely going to agree with every part of this. First thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread was "Oh, like when I beat Mass Effect 2."

i just watch the credits and if the game has a harder diffuculty (im a bit of a achievement whore and i like to get the most out of a game) and play through it again, but if its one of those ones that allow you to go around after you completed it i just go on a rampage and kill all life
