So I think I've got a bad case of Post Game Release Sadness Syndrome. With Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 out, I know there wont be another really good Bioware RPG out for years, baring the occasional DLC or expansion pack (that one for DA:O is the middle of the year right?).

Anyone else suffering from it?

er...

no.

I am suffering from game-related self misery, however - it keeps on taking my precious time and life away =\

I got that when I found out that MW2 didn't have dedicated servers for the PC. I knew MW2 was coming out but I found this lil bit of information after it came out. I only get to play games on my PC when I visit the parents so when it comes to games on the PC.. I tend not to really pay attention..

This also reminds me of back in the day when I finally beat Chrono Trigger... I was so upset when I realized the adventure was over, and anything after that would probably never live up to it.. IE: Chrono Cross.. Which to my surprise, I was dead on with that prediction.

In those lulls, I play to try to "complete" the game as best I can. Get as many achievements as I can, as many different playthrough combinations, play at the highest difficulty, etc. It can take up a lot of free time.

I don't know I never really get a hard on for a video game company so much that I get sad by their next release date being years away.
Then again I'm still waiting for Starcraft 2...

dude you need to get out more! They're only games nothing to get upset about!
There are differing degrees of emotion, this sadness isn't "my grandfather just died" or even "my pet cat just died" it's more "oh damn, my favourite TV show wont be on this week", only slightly more.

You can feel slightly down about something, it doesn't mean it rules your life, I felt slightly sad when I finished Dragon Age, there wasn't anything left to explore, but I also felt satisfied that I had completed it. I felt the same thing when Babylon 5 and Stargate SG1 finished on TV, or when I finished reading a good set of books.

Feeling "sad" about the fact there aren't any more games coming out that I know before even seeing a review or video I'll enjoy them (I haven't hit a bioware game that I didn't enjoy yet, can't say the same for any other developer, but it's a personal thing) doesn't mean I'll be cutting my wrists over it.

I still haven't finished Dragon Age just so that I can avoid that feeling. I'm in the middle of the final battle, and I really want to see the end, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Fortunately, I should be able to afford ME2 soon, so I'll finish it then.

Yeah... I rushed through Mass Effect 2 in five days. Now I'm letting a friend borrow it so he can play through it, and I'm just sitting here, quietly waiting for Bioshock 2. Sad day...

I know that I am a bit behind the times, but I have just started Fallout 3. This means that last night I contracted the This Game is Going to Take How Long?! Effect.

Not that I don't want to play it, but my £10 copy of Bioshock (which I also haven't played) arrives on the 12th and I'll want to start that then.

Nope. There always seems to be a fairly steady stream of games I'm looking forwards to. Not too much so that I can't afford all the ones I really want, and not too little so that I get bored waiting months and months for a great new game. For example, I just ordered Mass Effect 2 from play.com yesterday. By the time I've played the hell out of that and am starting to get bored, Command & Conquer 4 should roll around (March 16, I believe).

Whenever I do find myself in a dry spell where there are no new games I'm interested in, I instead go to the internet and buy a few old classics that I never got the chance to play. I've quite a list. So I doubt I'll be getting depressed about having nothing to play any time soon.

I know what you are saying, it is separate type of sadness like when you read a really good book and are taken by the characters the atmosphere and the story etc. And then it ends and you can never again feel the way you felt the first time you read it, even though you will always enjoy it.

This must be a hard time for Bioware fanboys.

Don't worry, soon you can work yourself up on the old republic MMO when they start hyping the "this is like 26 KotOR games rolled into one" angle of it again. They have already started hyping Dragon Age 2 and will no doubt start hyping Mass Effect 3 soon. You will be served. I don't think you ever need fear a time when there will not be at least one Bioware game thread on the first page of the gaming discussion forum. Don't worry, you won't have to pretend to be interested or play any game not by Bioware.

I don't really consider myself a Fanboy, I see what's wrong with some of their games, I've just found on balance I've enjoyed their games consistently more-so then some other developers, and I'm so not looking forward to The Old Republic, after finally managing to quit WoW last year (we need to get chips like they do in AA!) I'm hoping to stay MMO free for a good long while.

I'm sorry, but game forums are so full of people who seem happy to talk about Bioware and their games non stop that I occasionally have to let off some steam.

Carry on.

Arcanum [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura] just got published on GOG.com for just $5.99, so no. And afterward there's still Fallout 1 and 2, and Stonekeep, and ...
