When I was browsing through the; 'Favourite song that's in a language you don't know?' thread, a local song popped on the radio. Instantly I pondered to make this thread.

Post your favourite song from your non- English native language.
Though, I would like to note that most of the English speaking people here will be slightly disappointed, but hey, if you got a really rare gem, feel free to post it anyway!

Here's my contribution:
And be mindful, usually I'm totally not into this style, but I really like this song:

A Hermit's Cave
Uh, I'm Chinese by origin (Cantonese speaker), and my God, Guangdong popstars suck!

Japanese music (contemporary anyway, don't know about pre-C20th) is so much better. As far as Chinese music is concerned (in general), Yellow River is good (if a bit cliched, in a sense), but then it is a 'classical' piece.

Wouldn't mind attending a Lang Lang concert, mind you, he's quite a bombastic performer. Don't know that many songs in Mandarin, though (ending to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is good, if only because Yo-yo Ma is a genius.)

I love this song, the theme, the ritual feel that it has... Just love it.

My mother is Italian, and I can speak Italian, so I'm going to put this, and bollocks to your anti English sentiment! :p

I'm native English but a total linguophile, so I run across tons of stuff whose lyrics I don't understand. Sometimes it spurs me to learn that language (casually, never to anything like fluency).

I could throw up Teräsbetoni's Finnish heavy metal, Kaptein Sabeltann's Norwegian pirate fun (Grusomme Gabriel is awesome), tons of stuff in Japanese (my "first" language), even "Bluaj Fragoj" in Esperanto. But instead I'll go for the song I know the most translations of: Dragostea Din Tei, originally Romanian. Here's a sampler:

Korean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrJQTA5NDqI

Mandarin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAXPuoGn6ms

Thai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dll25ljI_l8

Israeli (Hebrew, Yiddish? doesn't say): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySK82z_MJOU

And the Opera version (Romanian): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ3lXZT7PFY

Enjoy!

Glittertind-rolandskvadet, is wikingrock with a dialect that resembles the norse language.

Current troo favourite is this, but only other Finns may understand what's so great about it, I reckon.

Songs that foreigners can actually enjoy, maybe. But, the reason I like them is because of the funny lyrics, so I dunno.

You can pretty much pick any song off any of the first 3 CDs by Rammstein. Those guys rock so damned much.

I love this song! LC are easily one of my favourite bands!
same I'm English through and through ( I do know basic survival language in about 5 different languages though) but listen to loads of songs that I can't understand a word of.

case in point

I doubt many people can understand this as it's a dead language.

I'm a fan of many non-english-speaking bands. My favorite would probably have to be Rammstein, and my favorite song of theirs would either have to be Ich Tu Dir Weh or Sonne.

Amusingly, if you start typing 'youtube' in my address bar their songs start popping up immediately.

I'm Irish, so I speak English, but I also speak a good bit of French and I love this song so I'm putting it up anyway.
