Still, it can run Overwatch and low settings, least on any map that isn't the one with the arcade room spawn, that seems to make it crash :/

The 1070 is a serious card. You should be able to play just about anything at high 4K for a while. What is your monitor?

Are you doing any Virtual Reality stuff? That is the future and what the 1070 really promises. I'm not there yet myself.

If not, what is the most advanced thing you are doing? I'm starting out on Crysis 3 on high settings with the 480, which is not up there with your 1070 but pretty dang impressive. I'm getting about 50 FPS at high using an old i7-930 with the Rx 480. I'm happy for now. 1080P.

Well, I definitely wouldn't describe the 1070 as a 4k card. The 1080 really has that resolution targeted and I'd prefer to step up my processor if I was really going to go for that. Personally, I'm not ready to spend that kind of money on games right now. I only just got the 1070 last week or so but I'm thinking about making some changes. I was running a 770 before and I have a 1080p 144hz monitor. I'm thinking about moving up to a 1440p monitor with one of those overclockable refresh rates up to say 85 or 96hz. I don't think the 1070 will be pulling 144hz @ 1440p for very long anyway and I don't want to overextend myself. Right now I'm really enjoying the frames on this monitor though. Doom everything on ultra hovers around 170-200fps and I've been playing a lot of the Witcher 3 (hairworks and other needless stuff off) and it's buttery smooth. Only going as low as 85 in the densely populated cities usually hanging at 120-130 during regular gameplay. I'm really glad I waited to play Blood and Wine until I got this card.

As for VR I'm not sure. It seems very cool but I'd rather wait for a higher adoption rate and more titles that I'm interested in. I see no reason to pay the early adopter tax when I don't have as much time to play games as I would like already. Have you had any experience with VR? I've read good things and the guys at PC Gamer have spoken highly of it on their podcast but I've never had a chance to check it out.

That 480 is no slouch and for the price you can't beat it. I typically buy Nvidia cards and I had some extra cash lying around so I wanted to get something with a little more oomph. solid overclock too. I can probably turn the memory up more but my core clock is stable with an extra 120mhz and my memory is at +100 as well. For a card that's already factory overclocked I'm pretty pleased. I really hope you enjoy that 480! I played Crysis 3 some time ago and that game is still has some of the most gorgeous visuals I've ever seen. Add me on Steam! Same name- JUMBO PALACE

Yeah, buddy at work bought it for only $240 but bench tested it against his GTX 970 and found it so similar in performance he decided to see if I wanted it. It replaced a GTS 250 with one gig of DDR3 DX 10 capable. Night and day with the 8 Gig of DDR5 DX12 capable. That PC is hooked up to a 55" 120 hz LED TV. My main PC has a I7-2600k with an HD 7970 with 3 Gig of DDR5 DX 11 capable and is hooked up to a 39" 60 hz LED TV. I use a Corsair headset but I've never gamed with anyone on line before. I look forward to checking it out! (Just paid $15 for Humblebundle that came with Battleborn and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel). I will add you ASAP. I have 2 accounts so that my kids can play at the same time as me: puddinnh and weldsj.

Wow that's quite the jump in performance. Glad to hear you're pleased! Oh and I realized we already talked about this in my thread about thinking about buying a 1070 (guess we know how that ended up going).

Thanks for the video. As of right now, like I mentioned above, I don't really want to spend the cash for a 4k monitor and I'd rather have a smaller jump in detail with higher frames than 4k @30fps. Just personal preference really. I'm not a super competitive 144hz OR NOTHING kind of guy, but I really appreciate the 60+ smoothness. Hopefully we have a few games in common and can link up sometime!

I am going to have an overhaul soon. This weekend I am removing the HDDs apart from my dump drives. I really want a new graphics card but because of the FreeSync I am tied to AMD but they seem to be refusing to update their range, the 480 is great but actually pretty much comparable with my R9 and I refuse to spend ?500 on a Fury X when it's (so say) going to be superseded very soon. Don't suppose anyone has seen anything about the new top tier of AMD cards?

Your processor may bottleneck anything above that GTX 670.

Should last you though the current gen. I have a 7970 which is similar. I have Battlefield 1 and it plays smoothly as long as I dumb down the settings just a little bit. You'd hardly notice.

I don't mind, I tend to not play the latest games anyway. I bought that system as a second hand, and it came with a horrible psu and case, so replaced those. I'm not at all happy with the Hydro H50 though. It doesn't perform well when stress testing imho (Prime95). I'm going to replace it with a Noctua soon, since those tend to synergize well with my case and fan setup. Well, if I can get the H50 backplate off, that is.

Just grab some cable ties, use the grommets provided too, it's what they're there for. As well as dusting, you might want to turn the PSU upside down to take advantage of the bottom airflow space & dust filter.
