I might have me a little weekend gaming project
I just found my old G-Con 2 light gun, but don't have a PS2 anymore.

So I might go to town, pick up a slim PS2, and round up all the light gun ps2 games I can find... I used to love those, and play a bunch of them tonight (as opposed to going to the engagement party i am supposed to be at lol)

Anyone else got any slightly random weekend gaming projects?

Not especially, unless trying to play Deus Ex for the first time counts (and it shouldn't, because as good as everyone says this game is, it seems way too hard and I'm not having very much fun. Yes, go ahead, make fun of me. I was an RTS/Diablo II kid 10 years ago).

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I fully support you skipping an engagement party to play with old PS2 peripherals. ESPECIALLY if it's your OWN engagement party. But I assume it isn't, because that would just be WAY TOO AWESOME.

Remember kids: real gamers have no real-life friends, just dozens of faceless gamer tags they can pwn n00bs with. Don't let the Escapist staff fool you with all their talk of being married, having kids, and going to parties. Those are just lies they tell their parents so they won't cry at night.

Hell no I aint getting married!
No it's a Bisexual girl I know, which means all the people there are mainly gay folks, which is fine in itself, but I'm a single straight guy and there will be NO straight womens there for me to try my luck with, hence it doesn't seem like a great event from my point of view.... I'll be "token hetro dude" in the corner somewhere.

Pfft. Marriage is a prison for the naive and idealistic, a game to celebrities, and the easiest and least rewarding way for somebody to lose half their money when it inevitably breaks up.
Um...just coming off another lonely Friday night, eh, RAK?

I was working. Not that I would have gone out anyway, to be fair. Even if I had, it's rather difficult to find somebody compatible with me - it has been scientifically verified that there is nobody, anywhere, who is interested in somebody who installs 1960s operating systems for fun.
I'm pretty sure I'm not gay, and I normally wouldn't admit this, but...

Installing 1960s operating systems? For fun?? I think I'm gay for you, dude.

Seriously, though. What do you install them on? Modern PCs? Or 1960s computers? Because if it's the latter, I didn't think they built houses large enough for 60s computers anymore.

Well, I was planning on playing Diablo II because I was feeling nostalgic and I never beat it. However, I realized I was missing the "play" disc so that's a no go. Tried to play FF13 but I can just never get into it. Might play FF1 or maybe hook up my xbox and play Beyond Good and Evil.

Edit: Actually I just downloaded Portal today, I should probably play that.

Modern PCs. I don't have the space or the money to get my hands on genuine 1960s hardware and software. In fact, I don't think that many System/360 computers actually exist any more.

I'm trying to find a working MULTICS emulator, but despite the release of the source code recently, there doesn't seem to be anyone actually developing them right now.
DUDE DUDE DUDE. You should totally BUILD a System/360. I mean, those tape decks are probably pretty hard to find, not to mention the Bronze Age whazzits and gizmos inside it that performed the spells that made it run. But oh, wouldn't it be fun to try?

My favorite part of a description of a System/360 I found online: "Unfortunately the memory space was limited to 16 MB (24-bit addresses) which was more than anyone needed at the time." And more than anyone needed from 1965 to frakkin' 1978.

Oh, to live in a time where PC generations were more than 10 years long. Ah, the memories...

ALL 16 MBs OF IT! *cymbal crash*

Willing to buy A PS3 to play Nier, because it continues from Drakengard (and buy nothing else).

I'm picking up Ratchet and Clank 3 again. My brother loaned it off some time ago, and never got it back. Now, years later, he goes and buys another one to start making up for all the games that met that fate.
