Hi, for my Spanish class my teacher assigned me to compile a bunch of slides that the other students would send me in a powerpoint presentation. If I'm using Openoffice, I'll just be able to drop in the slides, right? No read-only? No incompatibility from Microsoft Office?

Well it depends if the other students know the proper format to save their slides in. If they save it in one of the newer MS Office file-types it probably won't work. There's always Google docs though, that should work.

it should work just rember to resave them as a PPT file so you can reopen them at school again
but worst case use boot camp and a free trial of PP to resave them as a compatible version

Woah, this is so weird, I'm just about to do a powerpoint of my own!

OT: I'm not entirely sure about the compatibility between the programs since I only use Microsoft Office, but if I'm not mistaken, worst case scenario you'd just have to resave them in a different format. I could be wrong though.

Thanks, everyone. For the record, someone just sent in a slide early in the 2007 format and it was incompatible with Openoffice.
