Pox parties are get together's parents have to get their children to acquire childhood diseases, such as chicken pox, from their peers to become immune to them. To cut straight to the point of this, I'm curious to see what everyone's opinion is about these little parties.

I'm personally against them when a vaccine or other preventative measures are available, but otherwise I'm OK with it, mainly because at least when your child gets it you'll be prepared to deal with it.

If you want some more info about these deliberate attempts by parents to spread diseases around, here's a link to follow.

Honestly I think its a good idea, I personally will never give my kid an immunization shot for the chicken pox..... it's a silly idea, and completely unnecessary. So, this seems like a good way to get it all out of the way early.

Chicken pox isn't really something that's widely immunized against as it's pretty harmless in children. Parties aside they will probably get it eventually if one kid at school has it it's it's very highly contagious.

My parents did it to me and my brother... although to be fair, it wasn't a 'party', but a babysitter who had another kid who got the pox.

Personally, I think it's kinda screwed up but you have to admit that it's convenient.

Wasn't this the topic of a delightful episode of South Park, many years ago?
But yeah, better to get it when you're young. I had it when i was a kid and it was a bit itchy for a while, my ex got it at about 22, nearly killed her.

Eh it seems fair to me. Get em while you're young and get it over with. Whilst I wasn't exactly in a Pox Party, I was made to hang out with my older cousin when she got them.
