Ah yes, music, a powerful way to set the mood for a game.
There already have been many threads on battle themes and the like, pumping you with excitement.
And the following songs can do just the same and though they can accompany combat, it is not necessary. When you hear them, you know: "This is the final stretch","this is our hour of Judgement" and "all shit is comin' down".
These are the songs you hear right before, and during the game's climax.
And my question to you: in your experience, what games had songs that perfectly set up the mood for the Grand Finale?
One I was thinking of was "The Last Day", from Majora's Mask. Most games go action-y with their music in the final part, which isn't bad, but in my opinion, "The Last Day" really plays on a sense of fatalisism: as if all of Termina has given up hope and you're the only one able to turn the tide. Add in the steadily ringing bell signaling the final hour and we got us a bone chilling pre-climax moment.
As for action-y final moments, I will once again dig into my own personal source of nostalgia: Lufia 2. Instead of one song, there are three building up to and being part of the climax. Most of them will most likely not hold up to the most of you, but that's why it's called nostalgia, eh?
Incedentally, this has nothing to do with Lisa Foiles top five of licensed songs in games. I was planning to post this for a few days now.
