First of all, I'm perfectly fine with the idea of giving loyal fans that buy your game on release date a little extra. Or the ideas of Limited Editions that give some art books and in game items.

I usually won't buy them, but I like to think I have the option to do so, if I so please.

But, it seems a new trend is growing.
Robin will be a playable character in Batman: Arkham City if you pre-order it.
...at Best Buy.

That means that I, as a European fan, am screwed. And pretty much anyone else who's country does not have Best Buy.
As far as I know, Imports are region bound by Xbox, so that would be a no-go.

Now, like I said, I usually don't buy special editions nor I don't pre-order for the perks, but I still like to have the idea that when I do find something nice in a pre-order package, I can get it.

I would be really sad if Skyrim had a Gamestop exclusive Sword, or a Best Buy Exclusive armour model.

A solution to this might be to offer the free exclusives as a DLC.
You want Robin, buy it at Best Buy, or if you really REALLY want him, pay 5 bucks.

Not ideal, but it still gives the option for us non-Americans.

I hate pre-order exclusives as well, especially exclusive to a certain store. If you buy a game new during release week, shouldn't that be enough to get any pre-order bonuses? Maybe ship out the first 100,000 or so copies as limited editions that come with a code to get any bonuses or something along those lines.

With Batman, I will actually avoid pre-ordering it because I hate Robin. I feel the character really only works in the 1960s TV show. Robin ruined the Batman cartoon I grew up watching and he sucked in the movies he was in.

why worry, most of the time ingame, pre order exclusives are available to download after a month.

And Burt Ward is the only Robin!
