My only problem with this is that it doesn't seem like the Predators to go abducting their prey and then hunting them. I always got the impression that the Predators liked to hunt their prey in it's natural environment.
Yeah I know, although I've only seen the movie, but it still seems odd to me. There's a difference between breeding a species for hunting and abducting them for hunting. The latter of which seems like unusual behaviour for the Predators.

Thats exactly my problem with it, the Predators were very honorable, they went to earth during hot seasons and hunted...they didn't need to abduct their prey. Wouldn't shoot those unarmed or pregnant either. Now if this turns out to be the outcast predators called "Bad Blood" I think, then it might fit together into the Predator franchise, I'll have to see it before I give my judgement but at this moment I'm honestly not that excited. Oh and...come on this planet looks too much like earth (be it they probably kidnapped humans to put onto a planet closely related to) but couldn't they have added some CGI flowers or somthing instead of these obvious ferns...I'm not saying make a Avatar forest but for the love of god what I see here is a bunch of people playing mudwars in some dark forest. Again...my judgement is reserved.
The more I see of this movie, the better it seems. The AVP movies were...pretty damaging to the franchises. Personally I thought the first was 'eh' and the second was downright terrible, but this one at least seems to get the whole bloody point of the source material.
I'm not getting my hopes up, this could end up breaking the Predators series if it isn't any good, but it's one I'm looking forward to seeing.
A guy called Nimród making a film about hunters, I guess that's appropriate.
(It's really more his given name than it is his first name though, because in Hungary family names come first.)
Not really. See, when not in a Hungarian text, people tend to just write Hungarian names according to English standards, first name first and then last name. So Nimród is his given name and Antal is his family name.
I'm quite excited that a Hungarian director is doing this movie, but also a little fearful. I mean if the movie turns out awesome, my little country gains some fame, but if it turn out to be a shitty one, then come the "bah, Hungarians...". Judging by the trailers, it looks okay so far, so I'm hopeful.
The main problem that I have with this movie is the same one I had with the Alien movies.
There's multiple Predators.
In Alien, there was just 1 Alien, and it was all seeing and deadlier then a ************. It
killed all but one woman and a cat
and was only barely killed at the end. In Aliens, there's literally hundreds if not thousands of Aliens that fly apart if you so much as spit at them.
The Predator movies have always been good because they always made the Predator seem like the ultimate badass. He shows himself when he wants to, is invisible and close to invincible the rest of the time, has honor and integrity, and is usually killed by the last man alive in the movies.
The only way I can see this movie turning out is that the humans blow through Predators like a fire hose through tissue paper, and at the very end there's a "Super Predator" with tons of tech and fancy weapons that is only barely killed by the main character. This would annoy the shit out of me.
The more I see of this movie, the better it seems. The AVP movies were...pretty damaging to the franchises. Personally I thought the first was 'eh' and the second was downright terrible, but this one at least seems to get the whole bloody point of the source material.
I completely agree with you.
The second AVP didn't make any sense, but since it has nothing to do with Predators... I'm hopeful.
I'm hoping even harder the upcoming Alien prequel will be good, as you might have guessed from looking at my badges.

In the first movie, everyone of Dutch's (Arnie's) team could play the lead in their very own action movie. They were tough, characteristic and had punchy one-liners. This new movie has Adrian Brody as some badass assassin (yeah...right), Lawrence Fishburne as the "mysterious ************ a la Riddick" and that same tattooed Mexican guy that Robert Rodriguez casts in every one of his movies...Oh, and ofcourse the token tough chick so as not to be to male chauvinist.
What made the first movie so good was that it starred a whole team of witty one-man-army action heroes. But seeing as brawny action heroes are out of style, they've gone for the more a-typical martal artists. Lame!
Maybe if it was Leonidas and his 300 Spartans vs. the Predators...That I'd pay to see.
At very least it is going to be rated R, so they aren't going to wimp out of the gore this time like a lot of remakes trying to make as much money as possible.
i've been searching around on the web and have read a couple reviews from the avp fansite and they were pretty positive. all but the french.... but who cares. cant wait for this movie i'm a die hard predator fan
