Recently Frankie Boyle made a joke about the word cancer being in the predictive text dictionary on mobile phones. This got me thinking about other strange words in those dictionaries, here's a few I've noticed.

When I used to live in Canterbury, writing Canterbury with predictive text cane up with the words Banterats & Banteratsy.

Does anyone know what this means?

Even more bizarre is when I changed the writing language to German, at a loss to think of a German word, jokingly I typed in Hitler & to my surprise Hitler is already in the German predictive text dictionary!

How often do Germans text each other discussing Hitler?

Has anyone else noticed strange words in these predictive text dictionaries?

I can't even use predictive text. I find it so much slower to use that normal texting, which is less full of hilarious drunken typos to boot.

to hitler something in german means to get so close achieving something, and then screw up right at the end

ie

"Ach, Han, you totally hitler'd that midterm!"
"I know I know!"

Wow, I AM German and never heard about that.

I noticed my text prediction offering choices like "Klingon" when I press a fitting combination.

I often don't correct the predictive text if it's funny enough, and I know the person I'm texting will appreciate the joke.

I don't have any examples at hand, sadly. Left my mobile at home.

Both those posts are just too funny, ha ha!

The pint-shot-riot one is funny, it's almost like the natural progression of a night's drinking.

Writing duck when instead of fuck is funny, like "What the duck?" and so is calling some an aunt instead of ****, but if you have added the infamous c word to your dictionary, be very careful when texting your Dad's sister.

Attempting to insult a black person with the N word (I wouldn't, I think I may used it ironically in a text to my friend who hates hip-hop) comes up with 'Nighep'. What the hell does that mean? I tried to expand it & just came up with 'Migheracsilarcr' before my phone accepted that it could no longer attempt to predict the word. What the duck?

First, Frankie Boyle is a legend. Second, I don't use predictive text any more, it's bad enough when my mum texts me illegible messages which only she can decipher the messages. It's like Andy Parsons said would be the problem with the new idea of voting via text messaging, people don't proof read.

It's a brand new thing, I'm not surprised you haven't heard about it. >.>

My favourite one is "Going for a pint?", which goes through "Going for a shot?" and "Going for a riot?"
