Premium APB Subscribers Will Get More Customization

I am eagerly awaiting the return of APB, the game was fun, The combat needed to be balanced and there were a few bugs, but no game I have ever played came within miles of its character creator, the thing is boss. I spent 8 hours overall on the final paint job of my car alone and It was awesome, I'm going to rebuild it as soon as possible.

If you have never played APB don't even bother commenting on it, you have no personal experience to base your opinion on so you just copy pasta the opinions of others who didn't like it.

Yeah the game was buggy and yeah it wasn't perfect, but When everything was running smooth and you were destroying everything in sight and looking pimp as all get out at the same time, priceless.

I remember playing at home on an atrocious connection meant the server would take about 40 minutes to actually load people's work - until then I had to make do with everyone being "Green Baggy Top Men"

It's an interesting hybrid on the subscription model. Most games are dropping subscriptions in favor of selling in-game downloadable content. If GamersFirst makes this work for a game that already has some major reputation issues to overcome, then look for it to be replicated by other developers.

This doesn't do anything to eliminate the game having serious lag issues when people put max customization on. Run into a fight .. lag everyone out ... walk away with a bunch of kills. I don't see this doing much to combat it. Only paying customers can take advantage of it.

Hang on, isn't the GamersFirst guy saying that free players essentially get less layers to use in customisation? He says you cannot create and share complex designs "above a certain complexity level", which to me sounds like while premium players can use as many layers as they like, free players get less (perhaps half, as a hypothetical) so there's less data being sent to everyone else.

You can use whatever you want it's just that other players wont be able to see every layer of customization unless you cough up some dough.

But the actual GamersFirst guy never says that. At all. In the full blog post he even says he still expects to see F2P players making great designs even with the limitations. As in players are limited in how much they can customise, nowhere does he say other players can't see your customised character.

What does it all mean in practice; we presume that some incredibly talented artists will squeeze the living daylights out of the Basic complexity cap no matter what we set this at. In other words, whatever we set this cap at, we expect people to make some fantastic designs using every possible trick in the book, and then those who are really focused on their characters will clearly be very compelled to get Premium status (also for all the other perks we have not discussed yet). And the benefit to the whole game will be less complex characters in the game all around (unless you happen to be playing majority Premium players, which seems very unlikely).

He outright states that F2P players can customise less, therefore F2P characters are easier to load. He doesn't say "F2P characters will look identical/be a generic model", he says they will be "less complex", because as they have less options to work with, F2P characters will be simpler and take up less data.
