I can be very passionate when I am playing certain games. In certain situations I will prepare by grabbing food supplies and stretch my finger muscles enough so that they don't cramp after a few hours. How do you prepare for a game?

sorry, wrong discussion topic.,

Well, I start the game, sit down, and i might have something to drink on the side. That's pretty much it.

Usually.. I sit on the couch.

However, when a highly-anticipated game arrives that I want the full experience, I have a list for such an occasion:
-Turn on ONLY the light near the stairs- enough to see when I get up, but enough that the room is dark.
-Shut the blinds on all windows to remove glare.
-Find a comfortable blanket to use if cold, or sit on for comfort.
-Take a cool, fruity drink to keep my eyes open late.
-Upon entering the main menu, change the volume/surround-sound to fit the game.
-Do not make human contact until roughly 11:30 PM, when I break to wearily tell my parents that the game is awesome, and then proceed to bed.
-Repeat at 9 AM.

This will be my schedule for Alan Wake.

Wow. Am I the only one who lays down on my bed when gaming? >_>
I lay on my bed, what I wrote above is what I do before I play.

Grab a drink, controller, and make sure I've got no jobs to do. THEN I start playing.

if it's a game I just bought that I've been hyped up for a long time about/ imported,

- go out to giant tiger to get snacks and whathaveyou(I'm pretty sure you'll only understand what I mean if you're canadian... think of it like a mini walmart)

- when I get home I take a shower/bath (because I know that the next time I do so will be a looooonnnngggg time, okay well a week tops),

- I call my friends (if the game supports multiplayer, hell even if it isn't we switch off every time we die or whatever... I won't play single player untill my friends go home... they usually spend the night)

- crank the surround sound up

-turn off all of the lights while keeping my DS on the table by my couch (flashlight)

-make sure the basement is clean, sometimes I will go to the extent of VACUUMING if it's not clean enough (I can't enjoy a new game if my surroundings are unclean, ESPECIALLY if I just showered)

-I get into the comfy position I have on my gaming chair (it's actually formed into the couch... scary?)

-crack open a soda

-watch the intro and away I go.

it's like a ritual with me, I normally do a bit more stuff that involes cleaning myself, my surroundings or adjusting the atmosphere but it's usually not worth it.

if it's just a game I picked up because it looked kinda cool (I actually rarely do that anymore, and I forsee myself doing that even less because of the 2010 lineup), I maybe take a shower just because takeing a shower is a good thing to do, pour myself a glass of whatevers in the fridge and start up

Well, if I have a goal, I get comfortable, bring up anything on the comp I may need, and maybe make sure my controller is charged. Otherwise its sit and turn on.

If its a a new game I have been looking forward to, I do make a "set up" which consist of snacks that won't mess up the controler, and drinks that go from fizzy and sweet, to smooth and bitter.
