Preparations for Skyrim.

Parethasis are if they bring those skills back, if next to a diff skill it would replace that one.

Depends on the levelling system. My design changes significantly for something like Oblivion because you basically have to min-max every level to max out your attributes. But I always end up playing a sneaky archer who snipes targets from afar and has a great investment in speed and swiftness and steals absolutely everything that isn't nailed down. And if it is nailed down I remove the nails and steal them too.

I usually play as a warrior type in TES games, but I experimented a bit with a thief in Oblivion, and it was a lot of fun. Right now, I'm tempted to go for a nord thief - think an urchin who grew up on the streets - who knows the odd spell.

After that, I'll probably try and run with an arch-mage type of fellow, focusing solely on magic.

Finally, a spellsword/battlemage; a veritable walking armoury, deadly in the extreme.

Weapons of choice: Bow (Duh) One handed blades, most likely daggers. And a metric fuck tonne of poisons.

Almost definitely will be highly skilled in Stealth and Acrobatics or whatever they have changed it too. Really looking forward to daggers not being rubbish any more, Backstab time!!!

Well, for the atmosphere I'm going to play a Nord Barbarian by the name of Crom the first time around (cookie for the reference).

Then I will play a Dark Elf duel wielding scimitars (or the equivalent) that will totally not be a rip-off of Drizzt Do'Urden. [small]*cough*[/small]

And then likely branch off into a stealth and mage character, just to balance everything.

I always always always go for Breton for the added Magic defense. Its the best racial trait in the game.

The kind that only wears a bare chest and a robe respectively.

I'm sort of worried that dual-wield combat won't look good.

The problem with robes though, is that you have less items on your body to enchant if you wear them. Always bothered me that if you wanted a stylized mage, you would have to give up on greaves/pants for enchanting.

Are you listening, Bethesda? Robes should give some bonus to the enchantments cast upon them!

lol as soon as I saw the pic of the redesigned Orc I decided that for the first time ever, I would be an orc.

I've already got a character set out. . . for November.

Name: Krag Borak
Race: Orc
Main Skills: Axes, Bow and Arrows, Sneak.
Minor Skills: Lightning Magic, Lockpicking.
He'll be a real barbarian, pretty much the opposite of what I played in Oblivion, which was a sneaky khajiit ranger, with awesome sneak, lockpick and bow skills.

I really want to just push myself to try something new, hence the Axes and the Orc as a race. I might have a lightning spell in the other hand, but I'll most likely have a shield, or possibly a shortsword.

I feel like a major nerd right now pointing out that:
There are no classes.

They removed the class system because they noticed how stupid it is to expect players to make choices that will influence their next 200 hours of gameplay in the first thirty minutes.

This. Thank GOD. One of my many gripes against Oblivion.

If I end up picking up Skyrim, I'll probably go the same route as my current Oblivion attempt - a Witchhunter. Stealth, marksmanship, and destruction/illusion magic. If my stealth shots and poisons don't kill you, I'll just blow you up!

I have a tendency to lean towards stealth based characters with heavily enchanted and poisoned weaponry. I'm all about sneaking through the hidden entrance and hitting the target once or twice and leaving a twitchy corpse... in game, that is. Don't look at me like that.

You should make a lazy mage who wears his robe open and name him Lebowski.

That's true. Hopefully it will be more like Morrowind in that all the clothing and armors are stackable and depending on what the top layer doesn't cover, the under layer shows through. I always liked having a robe with huge bonemould shoulderpads on top in Morrowind
