the only reason i hate them is because they keep the continuation of the story from moving forward, like Halo Reach. Im shure i will love it but i want to see what happens to master chief not what he (or some one elss for that matter) did 10 years ago.

I HATE PREQUELS!!

Whether it be film, video games, books, anything! They are telling the story and you know where it is going to lead so it takes away any "What will happen next?" Suspense or mystery.

My eyes bleed from your grammar.

OT: Prequels never really bothered me, in fact Kingdom Hearts is made up of mostly prequels to the original 2 games, and I enjoy that series. However, the Star Wars prequels have to get the award for most unnecessarily dragged out prequel story in history.

Not to mention worst. Which I just did.

OT: To me they're the same as sequals. Some are good, some are bad.

I never had a problem with them. Actually I like 'em most of time. including Star Wars
Besides, there's one prequel in particular the two of us like.

Yes, it counts.

Even though I haven't played any of the other games, I agree with this strongly.

Also, even though this is off-topic, what other Tales games should I play?

The only ones I've played so far are Symphonia, ToS: Dawn of the New World (Wii), and Tales of the Abyss (PS2). I have Phantasia, now, but I've yet to play it, and eventually I want to look up Eternia (PS1), Legendia (PS2), Vesperia (X360/PS3...neither of which I own, yet), and the like.

I can definitely recommend Abyss, though. I've seen mixed opinions overall on Dawn of the New World...but personally, I loved it.

I dislike prequel because they always retcon something. No matter how small, something is always nut-fucked in the process.

I like my continuity dammit!

Meh, they never bothered me. All the prequels I've ever played have still been really fun so it's been alright.

Wait, if the Zelda theories are correct, the entire series consists of prequel. (The exception of Zelda 2).

Although, the prequel I wished never existed is Hannibal Rising. It made Hannibal Lecter...Human somehow.

Prequels are the haven for writers with no ideas. They can do nothing but retread plot lines that have already been explored. The only prequel I've ever found even decent was... Actually, I can't think of one.

...Does Batman Begins count as a prequel?

Call of Juarez BiB is an amazing prequel. Sure you know bits and pieces but nowhere near the extent of the prequel. It made me care about the characters.

No, that's a franchise reboot.

I don't mind prequels, depending on the story told. Even if I know how the whole thing will end, it can be interesting to see how it happens.

I like prequels, it's always kinda cool to see an event and say so that's how it got there in the sequel . It expands canon and gives the over all story line some depth.

Considering Shadow of the Collossus is technically a prequal, I have to like them.
