Just so you guys know, the singer was Polly Scattergood, an English singer/songwriter. Look her up, I think she's really good

According to a Gamespot interview, as well as Wikipedia, Nomad is confirmed as the protagonist in Crysis 2.

The trailer really does make the game seem much more emotional than it probably will end up being. It got me really hyped up for it, but it also made me pretty damned depressed (especially that bit with the soldier committing suicide to avoid the aliens).

As previously stated by others, very reminiscent of the "Mad World" Gears of War trailer.

And quite honestly, I think EVERYONE and their MOTHER would appreciate it if those PC fanboys would stop bitching about how there's no trees for their GTX50000000 to render.
I think there's some trees in the middle of New York somewhere. But of course, being awfully Eurocentric, I'm not entirely sure. I really was hoping for something a bit more interesting, though. I've visited a score of cities I found many times more interesting in terms of architecture and culture than New York. Something set in Kiev, St. Petersburg, London or some such would be vastly preferable.

That said, Richard Morgan has given me some of my best science-fiction moments since I read Dune, Hyperion and such as a lil wee kid, so I'm really glad to hear he's on board. Too bad his fantasy outing isn't quite up to par, but I digress.

Also, Ive been waiting to get upgrades for my PC and this is my perfect excuse. The trailer however I feel its unrealistic how badly the soldiers fared against the aliens. I'm pretty sure the NPC allies in Crysis did pretty well against them. Then again it was more likely that that was due to the fact the protagonist was taking most of the hits. Does anyone else think the new suit looks way too much like a gorilla?
Yeah but they were in on the ground and with support of a nanosuited player. This trailer shows the nanosuited NPC just watching. I wonder if the suit appearance will change as you level. I.E. if you went more the tank route you look like a gorilla and more like a snake if you went the other route.

That is a lot of hype for one company. I wonder how much of it will be real. I hope all of it but I doubt it. I believe that initially all three versions will look the same but the PC version will get better especially if a modding community is allowed.

Manhattan has few vegetation while the rest of nyc has more of it. Take a browse through google maps to see proof.

I think this will be up there in terms of legendary games.

And quite honestly, I think EVERYONE and their MOTHER would appreciate it if those PC fanboys would stop bitching about how there's no trees for their GTX50000000 to render. Because it seemed like FarCrysis was just something pretty to look at. Crysis 2 is all about how deep the rabbit hole goes. Its not just some island in the middle of the ocean your fighting for, your going to be defending an entire country. Specifically, your country. And if that isn't personal enough, having to defend the legendary center of an entire nation that has withstood attacks time and time again, I don't know what is.

Also, Crysis 2 looks prettier.
I'm a PC fanboy, and i'm not bitching, it's not my country, and i have no idea what attacks are you talking about, as the US never suffered a World War in their own territory. So: lolwut? :p
Ever heard of... Oklahoma City, the two World Trade Center attacks, the Civil War, etc...
Is that really comparable to the devastation many other cities and countries had to endure, specially in the past century? Not to mention military and civilian losses, just take a gander at Russia's, for instance. Anyway, all i'm saying is it was an overstatement, and a display of the typical american syndrome of "we're the centre of the universe".

Yeah i know they were supported by the player thats what i said

Hype is very rarely real. So honestly the best way is to assume its going to turn out average because then you may be nicely suprised.

I would say that the ps3 and xbox will run graphics similar to the medium setting on the PC version and as most PC users will be using this setting or lower Id say nost people wont notice the difference. Those PC gamers with a top of the line rig however.

I hope they expand the modding in Crysis 2. I know it will never reach the level of Oblivion or Fallout but modding makes a game so much better if its allowed

Pretty much true.

Nomad just let that guy die, what an ass...

This game looks intense, I really can't wait until it is released. They are really going to have to work hard to make there game look good, the first game rendered a lush tropical rainforest, this one renders a concrete city. Big difference in the way the game will look.

I'm definitely getting this. I never got the chance to play the first one, but I can play this.

Argh! I found out the name of the song in the trailer, but I can't find out who's singing in it. Does anyone know?

OT: I might actually get this game. Normally I'm against first person shooters, because they feel so unpersonal with you being a mute super soldier that eats bolders for breakfast.

This doesn't seem that way though. It seems to have a much bigger emphasis on story than the last Crysis.

The guy works for Crynet, and for whatever reason they're hunting Nomad (as well as tackling the alien invasion).

Besides: huge skyscrapers lined with reflective windows, cars exploding, bullets puncturing trees and concrete - I think we're safe on the "ZOMG I JUST CAME" graphical front.

EDIT: Can't wait to see the PC version in all it's glory; the minimum specs are reportedly LOWER than those of the first game.

I can see where they're coming with placing it in New York. It will add more depth to the story. However, I wouldn't call it the most iconic city in the world. London and Paris are more iconic than New York, but if you're playing as an American soldier it would make more sense to be defending an American city, although Washington D.C. feels like a better city to defend. Shame some other game *cough* has already done that recently.

Gotta say the music make the trailer so much better. Without it it would be just another trailer with people being shot.

Well, I understand all the reflective surfaces, bullets through trees, and all that, but still, its going to be a lot of gray... and for some reason people complain about that. (as in gears of war being shades of brown) I just hope crisis doesn't turn out this way.

As long as there is some damned resolution to the ball kick that was the ending to the original, I'll be happy.

The words that pop into my head when I read this are "lowest common denominator". It's like they are pandering to every single unthinking majority they can think of.
How does improved gameplay graphics and level design equate to lowered standards? Are you just mad they're bring it to consoles? Because technology can move laterally you know.
Except that consoles stopped being laterally sometime and around 2006 and are now severely outdated technology wise. Anti-aliasing, anistrophic filtering, tesselation? Coming up with something new alongside that is lateral development, dumbing everything down so it fits on a 4 year old already gimped platform is not. The improved graphics are a lie, look at the comparison shots and the improved gameplay has yet to be proven.

And yes, a dumbed down console port set in the middle of ridiculously overrated locale ripping off gimmicks of every similar popular game is trying to extract as many as possible sales from those who don't know what quality is.

My country? As far as i remember, we sold that place to the british about 300 years ago. And what kind of attacks are you talking about? There has never been a major military engagement in new york, let alone heroic last stands. Unless you mean the terrorist attack on the WTC but with 20 vs 3000 dead despite being on the defending side with prior knowledge of the incoming planes, I'd call that a colossal failure.

And no, you haven't seen a single ingame screenshot of crysis 2 so shut up about it looking better because all signs point to that not being the case.

I planned on buying Crysis 2 the second after I finished the first one :p
My expectations remain high as hell!
