Christ, these PR vids are awkward. I'm not blaming Andrea or the fellas from Gearbox, I know it's just part of the industry, I just despise small talk.

OT: I do love the Borderlands games but the game play can get awfully tedious and enemies have this nasty habit of downing you and then fucking off to hide in a shed, making your Second Wind ability redundant, which seems to be the case here.

I play the games for the writing/setting/characters which is why "I'm the guy who wrote the game and I don't care" made me cringe a bit, come on fella, don't make me resent liking your poxy games.

For as much as I would play as Athena if I bought this game, and how she was a great character in BL1 (Commandant Steele should've been playable, who cares about lore?), I'll probably not buy the Pre-Sequel because Borderlands needs some serious re-designing to be something I feel is worth my ever-disappearing time.

I'll play XCOM, Resident Evil, (2D) Castlevania, Mass Effect, Street Fighter and plenty of others, but Borderlands has so many issues that it always feels like more of a chore, than a pleasure, to play.

Still, Sword and Shield Vs Guns and Rockets sounds tasty. A shame that the gameplay ultimately boils down to maximizing DPS in games like these. Technique means very little against optimised "builds", and that's just not how I was brought up to "game".

I'm literally refreshing the steam page so I can pre-order this the nanosecond it is available. And I know that is totally illogical and I don't care.

Archer what do you think of this game?

Athena seems to be quite an interesting class. Her actionskill sounds extremely powerful, I'm curious how much damage this would absorb from an invincible boss. I hope they don't wait to long to release a game of the year edition of the game.

Well it certainly look exactly like the other Borderlands games, I'll give them that. And Athena is a different name than Maya or Lilith, so they have that going for them. But having the Helios station in the sky again is a little cheap, but then again it looks a little damaged so they probably just changed out the model with an earlier concept.
They wanted to make it look like 0 effort was put in to this, and by Clap Trap it looks like 0 effort was put in!
Way to hit the mark!

So overall, a decent looking hack-job of a sequel - Oh, I'm sorry, a Prequel!

Yeah. As much as I loved the first game I wish they would actually innovate in gameplay instead of just sticking to the same damn formula over and over again. BL2 was tedious enough to play, this looks even worse.
Also, the Pre-Sequel being set on the moon has to be the most visually boring setting that I can think of. Prepare to drown in grey, everyone.

Having gone through BL2 again for the sake of a friend, yeah. That's exactly the issue at work here and a big part of the problem I have with Borderlands.

If you don't have raw DPS-twink on your side, you either have to play a character whose action skill is abuse-able as hell (like Krieg), something that induces slag status immediately (like Maya's slag-doken). Or you whip out a sniper rifle hang back and camp like a ***** because those are the ONLY weapons that can down most enemies in a reasonable amount of time without requiring twinkage or specialization.

I will grant BL2 this: the first playthrough, (sans DLC) is pretty well balanced.

Sums it up perfectly, can't wait for this game to release. 'Specially Athena seems to be the character I would like the most.

I am stupidly excited for this game, and I don't think I can get anymore stoked for this game after watching that preview.

It's a toss up between Nisha and Athena for my first character since they both seem like a lot of fun, and I think Nisha has more elemental damage. I could be mistake on that, but I shall see.

Now, I just gotta find the time to finish BL2 and find out what happened to my co-op buddy since I kinda don't want to play by myself.

I am hoping for a few things with the Pre Sequel. One is that they reintroduce the audio logs save system. It sucks that you can't replay ECHO recordings anymore, while in the first game all the dialogue was nicely stored in the menu.

Second is leveling. It needs to be redone. It blows when you get supremely overleveled on Sidequests and then all the story rewards are completely paltry. When you end up three levels higher than the zone you just discovered, all the new loot is disappointing because it hasn't scaled to you yet.

Instead of setting the level scaling to what story chapter you are on, they should set a new region's scale at what level you are when you first arrive. I'm tired of doing Trivial missions, and I never once saw a Tough or Hard level mission because I leveled up so fast.

Did these two Gearbox employees just forget Athena was an enemy in Borderlands 2?
And it's repeatedly mentioned that both Scooter and Ellie are Moxxi's children in Borderlands 2.

They're not Gearbox employees, Moxxi being Scooter and Ellie's mother is a well-known fact, so I agree about that and, Athena was an enemy in BL2? Really? I mean, I didn't play the Headhunter DLCs, but I did do the entire main game and the main Season Pass DLCs. I can't remember Athena as a Boss or an enemy. :/

Lemme check the Wiki.

Edit : Nope, can't find anything about Athena being an enemy in Borderlands 2.

Athena wasn't an enemy in Borderlands 2, she was a former Crimson Lance in the General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands 1.
