Hey, if anyone can get this game released and do it justice its Arkane. Looking forward to Prey 2.
Same here. If Ken Levine can't make a bloody decent spiritual successor the SS franchise then no one can. (and before any bioshock fantards get their pitchforks out that's not a criticism of the games in themselves, it's a criticism of the games as spiritual successors to System Shock/System Shock 2)octafish said:Yeah...I kind of just lost my interest in the project. I was all up for space bounty hunter, but every game that has tried to be a spiritual successor to System Shock has been a disappointment to me.
Except the press take it too far and confuse "whats in the public interest" for "for whats of interest to the public", the press have no freedom or right to know what products a company may be working on for example.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:It kind of is. You know, how most civilised countries have 'Freedom of the press' written into their constitution as one of the basic human rights.ex951753 said:I hate how most reporters think it's their "god given right" to stick their nose into other people's business.
I find it interesting how so many people get up-in-arms about the press allegedly being in collusion with game publishers, and then turn around and treat the press with contempt when it does something that specifically illustrates that it is NOT in collusion with game publishers.J Tyran said:Except the press take it too far and confuse "whats in the public interest" for "for whats of interest to the public", the press have no freedom or right to know what products a company may be working on for example.
This is gaming journalism (entertainment), unless they are doing something illegal or mistreating the costumers there is no "truth" to find, you wont be chasing stories here specially regarding if they are or not making a specific game.Andy Chalk said:I find it interesting how so many people get up-in-arms about the press allegedly being in collusion with game publishers, and then turn around and treat the press with contempt when it does something that specifically illustrates that it is NOT in collusion with game publishers.J Tyran said:Except the press take it too far and confuse "whats in the public interest" for "for whats of interest to the public", the press have no freedom or right to know what products a company may be working on for example.
Consider it this way: When the head of the NSA said the agency wasn't conducting widespread spying on Americans and it was later revealed via a major leak that this simply was not true, there was outrage. And while entertainment journalism doesn't deal with things like, say, the wholesale breakdown of personal privacy on a national scale, people either want the truth or they don't.
As for the "press sneak fucks" thing, I think it's hilarious. I love hearing how people really talk when they think nobody's looking.
The way I see it, the only underhandedness there is lies in the way the information was obtained. It would be understandable if it was leaked that the money they were using to fund Prey 2 came from the human trafficking business or by disassembling Game Boys and selling the parts for scrap - real reasons to question their integrity. However, as it stands, it's comparable to snooping through your neighbor's mail to see if he's really selling Avon when he would like to keep his private business private.Andy Chalk said:And leaks are nothing new. Hell, companies and agencies often provide the "leaks" themselves in an effort to control the media. Colantonio's anger may be understandable, but there's nothing underhanded about what's going on, except in how he has behaved himself.
