Can someone explain to me how the PS Vita will be worth 249 dollars and also 249 euros. Europeans will have to pay approx 80 euros more. Why did they have the price the european version extortionately?

It should be 250 for base, 300 for the one with a GSM card slot.

Also while im at it... am I the only one who thinks of

PLUS

When they call it the Play station Vita?

And I think that was just a day of show gaffe that will likely be corrected in later press releases. Either that or they are charging EU localization and importation tariffs.

Because they can get away with it.
Pricing is usually based on the American dollar, and if the publishers can get away with taking advantage of a low US dollar to get more money they usually will.

Here in Canada we used to pay $10 more than the US. Back then it was understandable since we were at about $0.60 American per Canadian dollar. When we hit parity people bitched a lot about it and eventually they dropped us down to American prices. Now we're slightly above parity :p
