Well Escapist, I'm looking to make a sale here. Not here here, as on the site, but in general, like on E-bay or to a friend. I'm just not sure how much to charge.

What I'm selling, believe it or not, is my old Pokemon cards. These are the classic cards dating back all the way to the original Basic set, all the way to the Neo-Gensis collection. there are 800+ unique cards in total (18 cards a page, x48 pages), and over 1800 cards if you count multiples (but not generic Energy cards). In addition, I'd be selling a complete original set (the first set to come out), a complete Southren Islands set, mny Promotional cards, and all of them are in Mint to Near-Mint condition.

So, how much do you think I should charge for it? I'm not sure, and don't want to screw myself here.....

I couldn't really say, but a good rule of thumb is to price it way over what you think it's worth and hope for the best.

Well, I think that would be worth alot to some people. 1800 cards is alot, with more than 800 unique. So, lets say 10 cards per dollar, meaning $180, base. E-bay would be your best bet for something like this, so start 180-200$, and see where it goes.

But, seeing as you have all of them in mint/near mint, how about 8 cards per dollar. That is $225, base. If you go that way, start with 225-230$, then see where it goes

I was checking out some of the prices on Ebay, and some of my cards (like the Base Set Venasaur) go for $5-$8 by themselves. I'm wondering if I couldn't make more money by selling them piecemeal than as a whole. Sell the Base Set by itself, the Southern Islands by themselves, then the others piecemeal, or in small groups.

I was actually thinking 25 cents a card wouldn't be a bad deal (800 x .25 =$200 just for unique cards), but I think I see ways to make more money than that.....

I don't have a ton of experience with selling stuff, but selling it piecemeal is almost always better.
People would rather spend more money on the cards they want, rather then spending tons of cash on a huge set where they only want 60% of the cards.

But selling it piecemeal will take a while

I'm thinking I'm going to do it by sets, just to be efficient and cost-effective. I'll do the prices by the content of their set; IE - Sell the Base Set for about $120, my Fossil Set for about $40, etc. depending on what cards there are in it.

I'll just make sure to list what cards are included with every set.

take them into your local comic shop that sells cards, they could price it out for you and give you a good estimate
