I'm not sure if it's just me and the other 15 people in the world of whom are constantly playing this but I find this game FUCKING AWESOME! And it sort of surprises me that it hasn't exploded on to the gaming scene like an oversized headcrab with swelling balls on its face...

Basically you can pick one of two sides in a team deathmatch were one side you choose one of 5 dinosaur classes including the all-mighty T. Rex and the ever swift Velocininjaraptor.. or raptorninjasaurus. The other team consists of 5 human classes and the entire game is surprisingly very well balanced and the only way for humans to survive is to stick together and rely on team work! (or be really really f*cking good)

Were as dinosaurs you're free to sneak and surprise your human foes in hilarious ways in which I find their screaming really really entertaining..

There are over 5 maps to play in so far each with their own unique clever level designs and background music... BACKGROUND MUSIC! And it's not even offputting!

I'd say playing as a human is the equivalent of playing amnesia for horror in the sense that you're a hunter also being hunted! You're running around in first person- Sorry did I forget to mention that? Humans are in first person, dinosaurs in third BOOM -while hunting down highly intelligent dinosaurs to earn points but because they're highly intelligent (controlled by us humans I mean) it makes the challenge a whole lot harder than it was in Dino Crisis 1 or two. So you think you're doing great because you're in a team deathmatch and you haven't died in the first 2 minutes? Think again because while you're going for some raptor sprinting around in the beautiful and lush foliage you will inevitably become face to face with a massive human controlled T. Rex that's already eaten you from the side or behind! It makes you shit your pants I'm telling you!

On the other side playing as a dinosaur isn't scary at all, as a raptor it's really fun to be able to run so fast and pounce on your target over 50 yards away and chomp on their face until the +100 points rises from the corpse. And as a T. Rex you feel like an utter beast, he's more of a tank class if anything, you can walk on humans and kill them, you can duck your head and eat them, you can rise your head to reach and eat them and you can run to cause human players to shit their pants from miles away thanks to the early signs of a shakey screen. On their screen I mean.

Has anyone else played this? They use the unreal 3 engine and not only are the graphics beautiful and will soon utilize DX11 but the game is also FUN, which so many have missed these days.

I haven't played it yet but I do keep looking at it with a "shall I or shan't I" question running through my head.

I've read up on it and watched a few clips but don't know anyone who has played it so know virtually nothing.

I saw it on Steam and keep going back to look I just haven't "took the plunge" yet.

I know since I'm not an elite member of the internet that my opinion may not mean anything with particular significance but dammit I'm gonna say it anyway!

Primal Carnage is a game that's finally proven once and for all that dinosaur games rock. I remember playing Jurassic Park for snes and actually enjoying some parts of the game, later when the PSX arrived my step dad got me The Lost World Jurassic Park and Crash Bandicoot, oh how I inappropriately loved these games, they were absolute gems in my early years (I was about 10-11) and I played through them so many times that playing it again felt like brand new the following week. Don't ask me how, I'm sure you've had this experience before ;)

So TLWJP was my first favorite dinosaur game that had all the best elements of a sweet platformer plus it was 3d! This had to be one of the first 2D > 3D-2D platform game conversions ever, and I'm pretty sure Nintendo picked up on this when they re-invented Mario with New Super Mario Bros. for NDS and Wii. TWJP had secrets and every character from the film was playable... except for the little girl at the beginning that got nibbled to death by the little green Compsognathus or Compy's for shot.

Since this game I'd longed for another, better graphics, more to do etc... and along came Dino Crisis OMG I fell in love with the whole concept, I loved resident evil 2 and the same game but with oversized velocininjaraptors and a scary T. Rex breaking through your office windows with a wiggly tongue made the survival horror idea EVEN BETTER.

Shortly after my douche of a step-dad traded in TLWJP and Crash1 for Tomb Raider... yeh... Not Tomb Raider 2 or 3, just Tomb Raider... the first one... Which he coulda bought himself for like £5... I lost my two prized items that kept me happy if I got stressed with the puzzles in Dino Crisis BUT FEAR NOT! Very shortly after that Dino Crisisis 2 came out and I just loved that too! Though it was more of an arcade run and gun it was still really fun. Ever since then there has just been a ton of epic fails come about and I was really disappoint with every Turok game ever.

JP: Operation Genesis was ok but not really my style, more of a casual pass time if you can't be arsed to even eat your tea.

So after a long wait I noticed an indie group had got together and made Dino D-day. I saw some game play and loved the idea, who coulda though? first person nazi dinosaurs eating humans in an online deathmatch. Well the game was released and dissapointeded us all with it's shit ton of bugs and poor gameplay elements.

Then another indie group got together in secret a long time ago and produced this gem, and never told anyone! The game was very close to release when they decided to adversise and they even gave us a simple beta to play while we waited for them to get it on the market.

Since the release the team have been working hard to fix any minor glitches and bugs that we've come across and everytime I go back to play it the interactivity of the game just seems much more hands on like you're in complete control. The servers run really smooth and playing as a Velocininjarapor has never been so fun! Plus the new skin pack they released to make the dinosaurs resemble closely more to the ones from Jurassic Park look really sweet. I recommend you atleast give it a go if you enjoy a good hands-on game with loads of free roam space and the fun of picking out the human stragglers that haven't quite caught up with their group yet (tee hee)

Thought I might as well add these and a nice video too:

Snipped to save space.
Sod it.

I'll get it sometime over the weekend.

It does look and sound like good fun and I fancy having a go with the Trapper.

Awesome! :)

It's lucky people like to play as the humans too, I'll always be a dinosaur for as long as I can while playing because it's just so fun! The times I played as a human though had me shitting myself when I heard the stomps coming and I couldn't get away!

I was playing it over at my friends; it's a pretty good game overall, I am just waiting until they release that new mode for it. My only real complaint is that, other than the velociraptor, most of the dinosaurs are just somewhat hard to control. The humans though are really fun to play as, especially the trapper. It's hilarious to bag a dinosaur and just sit over him while he squirms, waiting to get knifed.

Well it's another shooter amongst the billions more plus yet another blockbuster CoD coming out, you can't expect everyone to thrive in this environment.

I did play quite a bit at launch, but there is an issue with it being deathmatch only.
It gets old rather quick and if the humans bunch up on certain spots they will win every game, and because there are no objectives this group camping soon became the default thing people did.
Some new modes were promised but I haven't heard if that came to pass.

I chose NS2 over this for the objectives part, deathmatch really doesn't do it for me unless it's a fucking amazing engine (as in satisfying kills, not pretty graphics).

Also as the guy above me posted, has the blob of people huddling together to be somewhat invincible been fixed? Something like the Spitter from L4D2 could work, but not sure how that would fit onto a dino. Just have the T-Rex literally puke dinoacid at the horrificly boring tactics used by the other team.

Looked like it has potential, but I don't feel it's there yet.

It's up to the dinosaur players to split up bunching humans, they do have a spitter type class, the Dilophosaurusis the long range one that propels poison and can cover wide areas, plus there's also the Carnotaurus which is what you may find to be the charger class and then there's the pterodactyl, the FLYING class which can simply swoop down and take a man away with it which you can then drop from a nice height and enjoy watching him fall :D

I hate FPS games. Didn't care for Doom, Goldeneye, Halo, or any of the other big FPS games. I just hate the first person perspective. Throws off my peripheral vision. So even with that said, this game looks like way too much fun. I may get it when Steam puts it on sale.

Same here - Natural Selection has been on my radar for too long, and I don't have the funds to get several games right now. I'll admit that the trailer for this game shook that decision a bit - the mere mention of dinosaurs in a game stirs some immediate reactionary impulse deep in my reptile brain, and I basically had my finger over the Pre-Order button before I came to my senses.

So it's going to be NS2 for me for a while now, but I may pick this up in the future! I'll just make snarling sounds while I'm playing a Skulk and pretend I'm a very clever raptor.
