well iam sure the movie will be just fine, by hollywood\bruckheimer standards. but maybe someday, someday... we will have a prince of persia sands of time, with a naive prince, fara, 1001 nights atmosphere, and directed by the spirit of stanley kubrick. sigh. ill bet people will remember more fondly alladin than this movie

Whenever film makers say "very true to the spirit" or "we respect the source materiel" that just makes me want to avoid it even more.

I know for a fact that Bruckheimer laughed when people asked if he had played the game. But a good movie can still be made out of disregard to the original material.

Well if the maker of the game is happy with it, then I'll certainly take a closer look. Although, there are several differences between what makes a good movie and a good game, so Mechner could be a little inexperienced in this particular department. Still, if he likes the direction and the faithfulness to the game, who am I to complain?

And what's with the rampant mocking of Jake Gyllenhaal's name? Is it because it's hard to pronounce? Hard to spell? Or is it because of his acting?

But what about if the GAME maker says it's true to the spirit? Wouldn't they know?

A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. Most often I see people typo it Gyllenhall, or they'll forget one of the Ls or something. And I ca never remember how to pronounce it :p

I'm still "meh" about this film, but I suppose I'm possibly a little less "meh" about it now that I've read this article. I won't condemn it outright with only one trailer to go on, but still....

I don't consider myself a fan of Jake Gyllenpopnfresh by any means, but he does at least have a look for the role. But still, why not cast some of those, y'know, Persian-type folks? Afraid of controversy?

I'll say this one more time: If doesn't wallrun at least once, i will flip my shit.

Oh, and i'm definitely gonna see this. Even if Jake Gyllenheimer isn't Persian, it'll still be worth watching.

I really think people involved with movies need to stop saying that. That goes for books as well.

It was said that Silent Hill was very true to the spirit of the game. Gans actually played the damn game, too, and it still ended up displeasing fans and critics(despite, arguably, staying true to the spirit of the game).

I really hope this film is good by both gamer standards and Hollywood standards. We need a good video game movie in order to move on with other projects (such as how Ironman and Batman saved comic book movies). So far we've had either craptastical films (Doom, Resident Evil series, anything by the man who's name we SHALL NOT SPEAK), or things that weren't great but weren't too terrible (Silent Hill and Hitman).

C'mon, Prince of Persia. You can do iiiiiit!

Of course the creator of the original Prince of Persia game will say that the film is good. How much money do you think this guy will make in royalties?

I'll need to see it for myself. the Prince of Persia games, all of them, were a real winner of my heart towards parkour, so I really need to see every little trick that the Prince can do.

I saw the trailer and the voice acting seems horriable....

It's looking pretty good. Perhaps this shall be the first videogame movie that we must not hang our heads in shame for whenever it is mentioned?
Max Payne looked awesome at first too, but they fucked that up quite easily.

Yeah most people have said what I've been thinking, about an American playing a Persian Prince and such. But only one person has so far mentioned the addition of a name to the Prince. I mean seriously.. Prince Dastan? That sounds nothing like a Persian or even middle eastern name. I bet Fara gets renamed to Princess Alana or Sarah or something.
