Who knew Prince was a comedian? I mean, he's clearly joking, right? Surely no one is that stupid? Please, God, I'm begging you, don't let anyone be that stupid!

Pop superstar Prince is adamant he will never sell his songs on the internet, insisting web-based outlets will soon disappear because they are no longer "hip".

The Purple Rain hitmaker has long battled to keep his music offline - in 2007 he sued video sharing website YouTube.com as well as eBay.com claiming they "are clearly able (to) filter porn and paedophile material but appear to choose not to filter out the unauthorised music and film content which is core to their business success."

Prince has also moved to ban fansites using images and anything linked to his likeness, while a home video of a child dancing to one of his songs on YouTube was pulled down in 2007 after the star's Universal Music Publishing claimed the recording infringed copyright.

The artist is still refusing to allow websites to sell his music and he's adamant fans will soon move on from the internet.

He says, "The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it.

"The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

------------------------------------------

Soooo, I'm thinking that the guy probably is wrong. But who's to say that he isn't ahead of his time? What are your thoughts? I admit I see sites like itunes not as a permanent thing, more of a stop-gap thrown in by the industry to try and halt music piracy while they figure something more effective out, but the internet being "over"....hmmmm
wow, what an idiot. I mean, did he live under powerlines as a kid or something? drink lead paint from the tin?

Bah, that science and advanced medicine! It's just a fad, people, soon they'll all go back to priests and, uh, new age medicine practitioners. Wait. That's actually happening in some groups of people. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

On topic, funny as hell, and ignorant as well.

Since when were internet dwellers "hip", no matter ow un-hippish online music becomes the internet itself will remain a hip thing for a long time yet, at least until those hipass scientists find a way to boardcast porn into hippters minds

... and the word "hip" is no longer hip

Since when was his opinion worth noting? Are we going to have an article on my friend John's thoughts on the internet and how it affects society next?
Well I could do one if you want

The biggest question is why do we care?

I don't intend to buy any Prince music ever on the internet or in stores.

Prince is a poncy pint sized prick tbh. He is so full of his own self importance that he is not in touch with reality, hence why he denies the importance of the internet that he refuses to have his music sold on it that he has faded into obscurity with this generation.

Oh well, the guy devoted a whole song to his belief in Y2K so I think we all know where he stands on technology.
