So, story explaining a situation I'm in.

An Arts Gala for our school is coming up showcasing our various arts courses.

A group of about 10 people were in a Drama festival in the musical category. After the festival ended in October, the group was told to keep practicing the musical because they would be performing it in late January.

Recently, a group of 10 people that I am a part of put together a musical scene for a variety show.

Now people from group A are trying to force the people from group B (the one I'm in) to perform, because A forgot the material that they've been told repeatedly fgor 3 months to keep fresh.

So, here's the question: Despite the fact the newer material is more suited for the Gala, is it completely correct for A, who's had 3 months to practice but has not used the time to their advantage, to force B to perform? Or, is it right for a group told to prepare for 3 months to force a group with about a week of practice to perform at the Gala?

extras:
Issue one: I am NOT a good singer. The Gala is made to ATTRACT people.
Issue two: I'm not an acting type either. I'm improv and technical theatre.
3. They want us to perform because they forgot the material.
Issue 4: They've known that they would be performing for 3 MONTHS and now they want to give us a warning period of 3 WEEKS.

screw group a, seriously thats douchebagextraordinary.

i say, blackmail them, they dont know their stuff and i suppose they can get fired or atleast in very big troubles for not knowing it, you do know it and they need you to do it, but they have no power or authorities to use against you, press every thing you can out of them, they deserve it.

also if possible, sleep with their significant others and their parents of the sex you fancy.

It doesn't matter, the point is you know the stuff while they don't so they obviously can not do it.
They've been told weekly for 3 months that they need to be prepared and have their material ready.

Both should perform in my opinion. The first group gets to look like idiots, while your group whoops their arses.

Oh, and best of luck to you.

We have a 15 minute slot. half of that is filled by a comedy scene, the other half was supposed to be filled by Group A's musical.

Can they peform it? No, so you will have to....they should be punished however.
If we can learn a musical in a week, they can re-learn a musical in 2.

Screw them. If they are trying to force you to perform then obviously refuse on general principle. Its their fault so its their problem. Let them learn the new, better fitting music.
If they asked nicely then maybe. But if they want to be dicks about it then respond in kind.
That's the thing. One guy who's in both groups went to the Drama Club President.

3 things wrong with that.
1. The Teacher, not the club president, should be contacted.
2. There was no discussion of this.
3. His answers to my "Principle is Primary. You've known for months." Run along the lines of, "We can run it. It's better, though." Vague, much.

If you're in a drama group, then it's because you like to perform. If the other group whats you to perform for them, and you know the material, and you'll be getting the chance to do something you love, then what exactly is the problem?
