Counter-sue for emotional damages caused by the law suit. Worth a shot if the first one is accepted. Ok seriously... no I just can't do it, there is nothing to take seriously here.

Better get them helmets too. Maybe shin and elbow guards, a back catchers chest piece. A guard for the nether regions.

"We can't wrap our kids in cotton wool. Are they going to start stopping kids from climbing trees and kicking balls?

One step at a time >.>

The thing that makes me laugh is the parents (most of them) are coming from the generation where they played with lawn darts, chemistry sets that had real chemicals. And in school, played sports with physical contact. And if they look back on their childhood, they'd say it was better than great. Yet they let crap like this happen. Your kid got hurt, thats gona happen. I didn't sue my baseball league afew years back when I twisted my ankle sliding into second. No I took 3 weeks off and got back to it.

Also if you can't play the damn game, don't play. or be an asshole and sue cause an ACCIDENT happened.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I have doubts about the realism of this case, remember back when someone was suing regit for them telling someone to kill them-self's? Stories like this always crop up when someone decides to do tort reform, maybe they are doing that so the wacky lawsuit storys are coming.

it,s America what did you expect? they sue people over hot coffee (the drink not the infamous mod)
PS
I got it,s in Australia I assumed it was America because they pretty much sue everything there
Also could you please read the following, it describes why the "Hot Coffee Lawsuit" happened, it wasn't just a case of someone getting a bit of hot coffee on themselves, it was a case of someone needed skin grafts because the coffee was at a tempurature to cause nasty burns.

This is ridiculous I shattered my eye socket playing school footy and just did my time healing and got on with it. I fear for the future of our kids if cases like this are successful in driving physical activity EVEN FURTHER out of our schools.

As a martial arts teacher, fuck uptight parents.

If you are not capable of handling your kids in an injury then send them to art school, or chess.

The claim alleges the school breached its duty of care, failed to provide adequate supervision or protective eyewear and allowed the students to stand too close together, and that Julia to hit two balls at once.
Oh i forgot, you are now required to wear a full protective suit to play sports
Thanks to whoever drew this, typing "Space Marine Tennis" in google, was a little weird...

Because I assume you've been corrected on the Australian thing...

The coffee thing was different, the coffee was actually above the recommended standards it should have been heated to. Meaning that instead of merely being hot for a second when it hit her hand, it actually gave her serious burns.

In fact, there is an entire case on it explaining why she was right. So google if you're interested.

OP: Eh, it'll be laughed out, its not the schools fault and its a private school, some of those parents are insane.

We have government subsised (usually between 85-100%) healthcare, unless you want to get private insurance for better treatment... and she only had a black eye, something tells me this isn't about the <$10 bill for that one trip to the GP

Oh wait it's Queensland, nevermind. Nothing to see here.

I'm so glad someone did this, I was about to actually state something like it myself.

The case once you realize all the parts to it was actually worth a law suit, the amount itself was also reduced afterwards.

McDonalds had reports showing that the coffee at the temperature they served it was hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns, ya know the kind you get when your set on fire. They were fully aware of this and had no intentions of changing the temperature at which it was served.

They also had several reported incidents of 3rd degree burns from the coffee this wasn't a first time thing.

So, yeah, not so frivolous cause they were purposely serving way too hot and knew it was a health hazard. The coffee cooled quickly but anyone who spilled it on themselves soon after it was served, like what happened in this case would suffer extreme burn damage.

But ffs America, please appoint judges to tell dumb people they're dumb instead of letting them have silly lawsuits.
Yeah, I mean I understand kids sometimes need to learn things the hard way to be safe. That's fine with me as long as the injury is pretty minor. Nothing like that to build character and stuff. But of course it's my job to enforce mouth guards let's say, because losing teeth is permanent, and it's my responsibility that I acknowledge.

But when parents get mad at me because there's a cut on their kid's arm, like WTF? Or they get mad at me because their kid cries because they got kicked a little too hard. FFS it's Tae Kwon Do, they should understand that accidents are prone to full contact sports. :(

All these children with these horrible over-protective parents will grow up to be glass-bodied sissies. I say let them, so that our children can beat them up when they're adults!

Oh Warhammer 40k. Is there anything you can't do?

Playing a sport (as it's intended to be played) and getting injured wouldn't merit a lawsuit.

EDIT: Did anyone read the story, or do you all think this was just a normal sporting injury, and that the parents want a crazy amount of money?
Well, allegedly there was two balls on the court at one time, but still, who in their right mind sues their daughters friend over a bit of horseplay during school sports? It's completely insane to sue over an injury that didn't even need a trip to hospital. She got a "bruised eye". That's nothing. I bet she played on afterwards.

Even if there was a bit of horseplay you can't justify suing your daughters school and friend over such a paultry injury.
