Probation posts

I didn'y get suspended for this but, when i first joined, my avatar was of a bomb going off with the words "from what iv'e tasted of desire, i hold with those who favor fire" which is from the poem, Fire and Ice. Someone changed it to a freak'n navi from zelda saying my other one was too offensive.
I really never understood how that was offensive (considering there is a guy with an exploision in the shape of a middle finger as his avatar posting around here somewhere)

...I can see why the last part of your post could annoy people, but I've seen quite a lot worse on The Escapist that hasn't gotten so much as a complaint. On the other hand, I've seen somebody banned on the basis of having bad grammar, so I really don't know.

Do note I don't want this thread turning into mod bashing ... I know this isn't saying anything against the mods but I just want to be careful ^^

It'd be a lot cooler if you were funny, or did something interesting. Instead you just sound like kind of a douche and in need of some attention in most of those posts. Of course, if you were funny you'd still sound like you needed attention, but at least it wouldn't be so douche-ridden.

That thread was just asking if people read them this one is to ask for specific examples of thise posts.

This is a pointless post, it is not constructive or inkeeping with the intent of this thread. You're trying to call him the attention seeker and yet you go out of your way to try to put someone that you don't know down. I'd call that attention seeking.

Please don't post messages like this because it is pointless and purile and not in keeping with the spirit of the thread or more importantly it is not what this forum is for!

I suppose it depends on the severity of the bad gramma for example if someone wrote "j00 iz 4 h4xx0r" or something then it lowers the tone of the forum. I think that is probably the reason for grammar being a reason for getting put on probation.

As for people posting worse things I suppose it's a matter of who it offends and the context in which it is written.

I believe that probations and suspensions given out by the moderators are fair, any disagreements can be taken up with them, however making a thread that brings up people past flaws for no reason is beyond pointless.

It's not for no reason, I know I for one find myself following the link when people get put on probation or banned out of curiousity and I don't doubt there are others so I decided to start a thread where people can share their experiences and bans under one place. If the mods didn't want us to read posts that got people put on probation then why would the put a link to the post on all of that persons posts?

Not all probations and suspensions are because of idiocy. In my case (once I was put on probation) I just didn't realize until it was too late that certain viewpoints were not allowed to be expressed on The Escapist for corporate reasons. Alas, all the warnings came too late.

I did not realise that people here took so harshly to any talks of piracy. I have righted my ways and am now a corsair.

3000+ posts clean biatches!!! WHOOOOOO! Not even a 1 day probation!!!

And I do like to check them, some are funny, some rather strange, others are just absolutely baffling. I like the ones where the mod has added a witty message, Nilcypher is rather good at those, good for a laugh on a slow day.

I swear if I was a mod, I would put you on one for a few minutes just because of this post.

Is it wrong to be proud of my correct (ish) spelling and grammar? Is it wrong to avoid all ban worthy threads? Is it wrong to ignore trolls? Is it wrong to respect the mods in their work? Is it wrong to have avoided religious political threads like my sanity avoids me? Fuck no.
I'm just happy that I have managed to avoid the ban hammer. It is sort of an achievement, and it's nice to be proud of something.

I believe you misunderstood my meaning. I was joking that because you posted about having 3000 posts without so much as a warning, if I were I mod, I would give you a Probation as a joke to make your post inaccurate, of course taking it away in a few minutes. It was all meant in good fun mate, nothing serious.

This expression alludes to the main character of a nursery tale, The History of Goody Two-Shoes (1765), who was so pleased to actually own two shoes that she kept saying "Two shoes!" She was written as a model character of righteous yet humble living. The goody in the story is short for goodwife, an archaic term than means roughly what "Mrs." means today.

The whole point is that I don't want this thread to become one big argument and your post seemed pointless and purile and I honestly didn't see the point in it so I asked you not to argue in this thread because it detracts from the atmosphere. Huh? Get them banned? I didn't make him call me what he did. I didn't report him, either. Just how did I "get him banned"?

You budded up and took his side because I basically told him his probations are not cute, despite the fact that he was trying to make it seem that way. You'll have to excuse me when I tell you that I don't care if you like my opinion or not. I find it bizarre that you took his side and you're still even going at it, but it's really neither here nor there to me.
