Problem Playing PS2 Greatest Hits Discs?

I went out with my friend last weekend, to EB games ( dont know if they have that in the States) and helped him trade in a game, in return he bought me God of War 2 Greatest hits 2 disc set thingy ( I still only have a ps2 /cry)

Anywho, I got home, and the thing wont load? I put in the disc, close the lid, and turn it on, but the screen stays blank, even though the green light is on. Only when I lift up the lid, does it start. So I tried to put it on Browser, then put in the disc, nada. It just reads it forever.

I phoned up Playstation, and I had to send the disc in, they said they have had a lot of problems with "Greatest Hits" discs not loading. I'm currently waiting for it to be sent back, but I thought I'd just give everyone a heads up about it, and see if anyone else has had problems with this?

I know that if you have a save file from the regular game. The Greatest Hits version won't load it. That happened to me on GTA: Vice City.

Ahh, interesting. However I didnt have a God of War 2 save file on that memory Card... Weird.

As for the other post, my friend couldnt be to blame, I was with him when he got it. It's a shame noone else has any other ideas though, or any other Greatest hits that malfunctioned
