so as of late, like, a week or so, I've been having this bizarre problem with my PC
every time I start it, it takes its sweet ass time to, idk, "start", and it gives me a "Overclock Failed!" error in the American Megatrends screen
and after that, when I load the default setup, it takes its sweet-ass time to boot into Windows, and longer to fully load the Desktop

the thing is, though, I haven't attempted to overclock my PC, mostly since I don't even know how to do that, and I think it's fine as it is
now, I've searched google and stuff for help, but all the sites had different solutions, yet none of the "symptoms", so to say, were the same as mine
my PC doesn't shut itself down nor restart on its own, and I am not getting any BSOD, as most of those sites are saying they get

so yeah, do you have any clue on how to fix this? I'll put my system specs when I figure out how to find them

There are a couple of things I would try just to start.

1) Replace BIOS battery
- There's a small battery on some mobos that will have a small disc shaped battery. Replacing it will sometime fix this issue. (Unsure why but it does)
- Unplug your computer any power source that you are using and depress the power button
- Replace the battery
- Plug your computer back into its power source.

2) Reset the BIOS.
- Unplug your box from the wall and depress the power button for about 10 seconds (This will fully discharge any remaining electricity from your box.
- Locate the reset jumper on your Mobo.
- Place the jumper into reset position and plug in your box and power it on.
- Once powered on and booted up, shut down your system again.
- Unplug the box and depress the power button
- Place the reset jumper back into the original position.
- You have completed resetting the BIOS values on your MOBO

3) Upgrade you BIOS to latest
- Locate the latest BIOS on your MOBO manufacturer's webpage.
- Download the latest BIOS update.
- Follow manufacturer's instructions on updating your BIOS. (It differs).

1 of these might help. Good luck
I think the first one should do it, seeing as how the thing I think caused this is when I cleaned the PC
I don't have an air compressor so I used a dry towel thingie mainly to take off the spiders inside XD
thanks though, I'll give it a try

You really should avoid using a dry paper towel. It can cause static, which can cause an electrical discharge strong enough to fry a capacitor and then you'd need a new mobo. Canned air works. I have a mini vacuum cleaner myself that I use to get all the shite out.

Spiders aren't so bad. I've seen spiders with their babies riding on their backs. I've seen scorpions. I've seen a literal inch thick of smoker's residue caking the inside. I've even seen red brick dust.

Oh yeah... a dead mouse too.
nah, it wasn't paper, I just don't know the proper word for it =P

I'll have to say, I've never dealt with this issue, so I'll just give some general advice.

When the computer gave you the "overclock failed" message, did it also give any sort of error code (basically any set of seemingly random numbers and/or letters)? If so, write the entire thing down, and then type it into google. You should be able to find results that are specific to your issue.

If there is no error code (which is a distinct possibility), then I would follow overpuce's advice.

nope, just the regular data (you know, detected keyboard, screen, 2 mice (mouse and tablet) that kind of things)
only "Warning! Overclock failed
press 'DEL' to run SETUP
press 'F2' to load default values"
