Problems installing Witcher 2

I managed to snag a free copy of this game earlier and excitedly set to installing it. Once it was done installing I typed in my serial number and it started downloading patches. It's been doing that for 5 hours now. It shows a 112mb patch followed by another (maybe the same) patch in bytes. It downloads each and then precedes to repeat ad nauseum.

Will this finish? Has anyone else had this problem?

Out of curiosity how'd you get a free copy? But yeah, the launch version has a messed up patcher. Just manually download and install the latest 0 to 1.3 patch available HERE. Easy as cake!

As for the free copy, one of my oldest friends runs our local gamestop and as manager he gets promo swag and free games all the time. PC gaming isn't his thing but he knows it's mine. He slides all his free pc gaming stuff my way. Pretty awesome hookup really, but then, I've known the guy somewhere around 25 years. We grew up together.

Do you have Norton 360? There is a problem with the 1.3 Patch which causes Norton to view the game launcher as a threat, and quarantines it. You have to dig it out of the quarantine to play. Pain in the ass I can tell you, but worth it for 4.3 Aspect Ration Support.
