Problems with a Battle.net account... I don't have. Any ideas?

Recently, I've been receiving emails from Blizzard (or at least something claiming to be Blizzard) telling me that changes have been made to my personal information, or that my account is being locked due to suspicious activity. I was confused, primarily because I don't have a battle.net account, or own any Blizzard games. I had a look at their support website, however when I tried to enter my problem it required a sign in, which I obviously couldn't do given my bizarre situation.
So, does anyone know what's going on? Is my email address being used or attacked by something shady or is it just some mix up in their database?

I got the same email and not only one but several. Like you I don't have a battle.net account either. I didn't bother reading them because they look too suspicious.

Yep phishing. They don't care if you actually have an account they just send these out, and if you foolishly log into it they steal the info and fuck you over. I've started getting them for Starcraft and Warcraft, the former I don't even play.

Also if you have it in not HTML format you can see that their links go do completely different sites than the official one. They make the link say "blizzard.com" or whatever but it's just a mask, it's going to some copy cat site.

I get fucking spammed with those.

Thank fucking god they're all WoW related though.

I do have a Battle.net account, but it's only for Starcraft 2.

No, they're also for Battle.net.

I've been getting them in my spam folder, I like e-mailing them back to see if I get a response. Nothing so far, but I'm working on it.

Nope. The titles are something about my WoW bill not being paid or to participate in the Cataclysm beta.

Kind of related:

I must have fallen for a phishing scheme at some point, because someone was logging into my (deactivated-for-the-last-6-months) WoW account all last week. I've attached an authenticator now, so all should be well (and I got a month of free game time from it too).

Ignore them, their phishing emails. My brother dumped out like 100 of those e-mails one time, all of them about the Cataclysm beta.

I was on 20 in about a week ... They really want my info I guess, only problem being I don't have an account either.

Should I make just so they can hack it and leave me alone?

They're just trying to steal your shit. They're stupid enough to try and steal shit that people don't have.
It's not so much stupidity but just a "shotgun" approach. If you mass mail enough people, some of them are bound to have a Battle.net account and some of them will fall for it. Spammers don't have any way of knowing if you have an account to steal or not, so they just e-mail as many people as they can.

change the password associated with the email account you use for your battle.net account.

that should stop the phishing altogether in a day or so. and when you do change it, put a special character or two in it (e.g. #,@,%, etc.). those make your passwords MUCH harder to crack.

Ask them if they would like to purchase some male enhancements.
