Hi everyone.

We all probably have a game from our past we absolutely adore. Old sidecrollers, our first 3D's or maybe the first game we ever played. However, sometimes the things we love have tobe viewed with honest eyes. Although we may abhore the idea of criticising games we loved growing up, there is lamost always something about those games that we disliked, or felt could use an improvement.

For my money, it was Metal Gear Solid. I've already stated that this game was my absolute favourite growing up in my review of it but if I'm being honest, I wish it would have been a bit longer. Some plot points were so "out of nowhere" that it could have used a few hours longer to stretch things out properly.

How about the rest of you? What about games you loved from your childhood do you think could stand some improvement?

For the record " a need for better graphics" will not count as a legitimate complaint. The reason being that it is completely unfair to compare older games (perhaps even from the ealiest days of gaming) to the newer generation on the basis of looks. Just so we are clear.

Super Mario Bros 2

Luigi could jump high. Princess could float. Toad could, ummm . . . be short.

But Mario couldn't do anything important. He needed a power.

Mega Man X it was the first games i played, and MY GOD the platforming could get ridicoulus especially in the final level where you have to jump from moving platform to moving platform while being attacked by enemies droppping down and you cant jump onto the platforms directly you have to jump and the jump off the side of them to get onto them.

The TimeSplitters series could be improved with a sequel :p

But in all seriousness, that game needed to figure out a way of having more ammo around if you were doing co-op, and I wish co-op didn't mean it cut out the parts where the characters seperated or any of their funny dialogue.

But Toad gets all the bitches!!

Think for me it wouldve been one of the Smackdown games. Me and my friends loved them, played them, made up our own PPV events and played them all night. But then one of them came out and it honestly had the worst loading times of any game ever.

Thats for sure.

First they come up to him and go "aww he's so cute and small, and look at his silly little hat."

Then they start to hug him and kiss him on the cheek, and begin to trip.

While high on mushrooms, they all have a good time. While Mario still wishes he had something more to bring to the table than being in the title and wearing red like a reatarded plumber Santa.

Final Fantasy 6 (or... 3, when I first played it)...
Some of the dialog was awkward and badly translated... and the American release was incredibly easy.

...I'm really hoping for a remake a la Final Fantasy 4 for the DS.

Abe's odyssey - rather than explain how it could be improved to perfection, I can just point at Abe's exodus and say "pretty much that".

A lot of older RPGs suffer from this. The first few Phantasy Star games feel ridiculous by today's standards thanks to poor design choices like not having a map in dungeons. Same with the Ultima games. Same goes for a lot of early PS1 games, who were a bit too wrapped up in the new technology to really focus on making a good game. Beyond the Beyond is a good example, same with Resident Evil 1 (though the shortfalls of that game are well documented.
