Okay so basically I'd like to know if an AMD Phenom(tm) 8250e Triple-Core Processor, 1.9GHz is any good for gaming? Does triple core mean three 1.9GHz Processors or what? Thanks for the help!

Yes, it would be adequate. Depends on what games you want to play, and what quality you want to play them on. Processor isn't as important as RAM and video card when it comes to gaming.

Yes, that would be the equivalent to 3x 1.9GHz processors.

Still, for just a little more money you could get faster clock speed or quad-core processor...either one would be better. If money is no object, you could do a lot better than that processor.

a multicore processor DOES NOT mean that you'll get 3x the power. a triple-core 1.9 gig processor is NOT 3 x 1.9 gig. why do people think that. MULTIPLE CORES DO NOT SCALE LINEARLY LIKE CLOCK SPEED DOES. I AM MAD. MAD ABOUT PROCESSORS

edit: and I wouldn't say that processor is fantastic, either

MusicalFreedom is right, only applications that are multi-threaded will actually see performance benefits from multiple cores, even then that's just 3 logical cores executing different parts of the code a program requires at the same time. Otherwise, it just makes for smoother multitasking with normal programs.

The importance of the CPU depends on the game. Source games (Half life series and its derivatives, like Counter Strike and Team Fortress) are VERY CPU dependent. Others may be very GPU dependent, or a mixture of the two.

RAM is a different story. If you have enough RAM for the game to load what it needs, you wont see better performance if you get more RAM. The only time RAM makes a difference is if you're under the game's requirements, then adding more RAM will be tremendously helpful.
