Processor and motherboard help/suggestions

okay so I am looking to upgrade my processor, but I dont know what is compatible with my motherboard and such.

my Processor is an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ with a core speed of 2.41 GHz

and my motherboard is a ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe motherboard.

anyone know what better processors I can get that is within lets say, 100-150ish?

if you can post link and specs I will be super happy heh

well they have amd quads for 80 bucks now... I don't know if you are going to find one that will fit the socket for your current motherboard though. It only supports athlon 64 and opteron cpu's. You need to replace that motherboard to buy an upgrade worth the effort.

problem is you are going to need new ram too... as that mobo is a ddr 2 rig
strangely you can replace all three pretty well for around 170-180 ish.
Which really isn't that bad considering you'd be replacing the entire core of your machine. Short of the graphics card. Granted this is taking the budget path, but that's a phenom II processor and a decent motherboard, the only shortcoming is you will no long have dual graphics, that would only be an issue if you are actually using both the pci-e's on that asus right now though.
