Ah, procrastination, the single minded ability to stave off any and all responsibility even in the face of Armageddon. Why, even right now, I've an exam in 9 hours yet I'm here posting on the Escapist. Woo!

So, any other users out there master procrastinators?
Or are you one of them "responsible" kinds[footnote]I'm onto you![/footnote]?

Or for some discussion, does anyone have a story about a time when procrastinating lead to some bad times?

Edit: Okay, I really have to do some God damn work; if anyone sees me posting here, give me a slap on the nose. It's the only way I'll learn.

Well, I've procrastinated about homework a shitload. It's never really bitten me in the ass so I think I'm good.

I'll write a response later.

In all seriousness, I can't rightly enjoy myself knowing I still have responsibilities to take care of. There's something wrong with me.

I'm terrible about returning books and videos. Between a friend and me we racked up a $150 USD fee at one time at the video store (Blockbuster if I remember correctly). I think I've been single single-handedly keeping my local public library afloat.

I hated essays in secondary school. I'd leave montly assignments until the few hours before it was to be handed in. Seriously, the thoughts of getting an essay for homework scared me more than the thoughts of failing a test. They genuinly stressed me out, but I still couldn't muster the willpower to put pen to paper. Despite the fact that I liked poetry and reading, I hated English. I suppose I'm just more of an observer.

I can't begin to describe the relief of knowing that's all behind me now...

I can manage to be procrastinating even when I have nothing to do. Strangely, I normally manage to stop procrastinating and do what needs to be done only when it's school work. I don't know why, but I'm the polar opposite of every sane kid in the world. I tend to procrastinate with eating very often... is that bad?

EDIT: By the last sentence, I mean that I take forever to actually stop what I'm doing, get up, and eat.

I do it so much that I would rather regard it is "Careful Consideration." I take my time instead of procrastinating so I do not make mistakes.

I know what that's like. Give me a 2 week deadline and I'll do it in 2 hours, and if it's finished then it'll be a miracle. Study is even worse, because you can't quantify that shit, so rationalising is all to seductive.

"well I probably know most of this already..."

I procrastinate for a very small amount of time if I don't have to do it RIGHT NOW. If it's due tomorrow, and it's 6:00 PM, I'll start in an hour.

Here's the thing: I actually will start at 7:00.

Well to put it one way, my motto is there's always time for a last minute.

College starts for me on the 20th, I still have yet to sign up for classes. In other words I'm fucked.
