For a number of weeks now I and some fellow Escapists have been working on making a Half-Life 2 mod called Ocean's Requiem. Ocean's Requeim is a story-driven, Survial/Horror FPS, if you want to read more on the plot of the game you can read about it here in my user group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Writers-of-the-gaming-world] if you become a member. I am the writer for this game and I can safely say that the plot of this game and how it will be delivered is quite unique, we don't intend for this mod to be the generic multiplayer fodder that most Source mods are, this will be a unique and immersive experience that will barely resemble Half-Life in any way (Except maybe the high-quality story).

For now, the only two people working officially on this project are j0z and myself. j0z is my level designer and has done a terrific job so far as you can see in this video.

Test video #1 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lFOatgTBYQ]

Mind you that is only a preliminary level design, it has since gone under much refinement.

The purpose of this thread is to try and find fellow Escapees out there who wish to join us in this project. If you are well-versed in the Source Engine's workings we need your help, we are in dire need of a character modeller so if you know how to do that we will eagerly accept you. Concept artists are also needed, to draw maps and such, helping our designers visualize the levels and how they should look.

We hope that one day this project of ours will become wildly popular and gain the recognition of games like Team Fortress 2 or Natural Selection, maybe even earn itself a next-gen remake. A pipe dream, maybe, but we remain optimistic that the uniqueness and quality of design in Ocean's Requeim will earn it recognition in the game design community.

EDIT: I realized that I had the chat and news locked to non-members, it is now unlocked.

EDIT #2: Any questions about the story can be directed to me and I shall answer.

Can you list all the rolls needed?
We need someone who knows how to make character models and some concept artists, and if you want to help j0z out with the level design we could use as many Source-savy people as possible.

Ah, I don't have alot of knowledge with the Steam Engine (Lol). I've done skinning and basic object modelling.

We could certainly use your help (I know nothing about using Source :p) j0z needs help re-texturing things and maybe your basic object modelling could come in handy as well.

Hmm, I may be able to do some Concept Art work, but mind you it wont be my top tier quality in terms of visuals. I've lost not only Photoshop, but my tablet and mouse. I can still use my laptop, but it's going to do a number on what you get out of me. What type of themes and levels of realism are you looking for?

Hello everyone! j0z here.

My biggest need right now is someone that knows how to use Softimage Mod tool to make props. Also, knowledge in the Source texture/material system would be a plus.

What program have you been using? Blender, Maya PLE, milkshape, XSI?
And have you done animation/rigging?

We're mostly concentrating on doing maps and such, not so much actual drawings of the levels, but those could help as well. The level of realsim would be somewhere between Bioshock and Half-Life, not CoD 4 realistic, but still pretty real-looking. We could also use drawings of the characters.

I have a few folders full of reference photos if you want to take a look at them, I recommend reading the basic story details in the user group to get an idea of what we're going for.

I read through it. Sorry, but that's just not the kind of theme I can work with. It's good, but I'd be at a loss on getting the right feel of just how you'd want it portrayed. I tried having a go at the Fiddler, but it's just not working for me (not having any of my tools isn't helping), so I'm going to have to pass for now.

Well...... I can think of one group in particular, but it's really a shot in the dark trying to get one of them to help. The 4chan community has a board named /i/- Oekaki, which has quite a few talented artists, but they aren't always, uhh... friendly. Half of the time, they're having penis-drawing contests, but the community is made of some really talented artists, both for environmental and character design. It'd be good to show them you have tangible progress, but I'm going to warn you: when you click this link [http://cgi.4chan.org/i/imgboard.html], there WILL be porn ads, and probably adult content. If you really really want some quality images, and /i/ won't help, some of the members of deviantART [http://www.deviantart.com/] do commissions, but that means paying.

I'm not desperate enough to go to 4chan for help, I could probably get one of my friends to do some concept art for me, he'd like the recognition. Thanks for the help any way. :p

It's a prototype, made by one person. What do you expect?
